HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, 2021 STYLE!

Yes, it really is my birthday again. Seems like the previous one was just here, right?

Screen Shot 2021-01-13 at 6.25.40 PMI feel awful for Mr. X that any celebrating will be mostly his responsibility this year. Usually friends take me out all month—to lunches, dinners, afternoon teas, desserts, events, you name it. And some just pop over and bring me fun presents. But, with none of those being possibilities this year, poor Mr. X has to do it all. He usually begins the day with a “card search.” He puts cards all over the house, (all with cash in them, of course,) and even though I find most pretty quickly, I’m always surprised by some others as the day goes on.

But I don’t want him to go into stores to shop for cards in this dangerous time. So he can’t even buy me any gifts now, either. (I hate when he purchases anything for me on-line because we’re both too lazy to ever return anything on there!) So, he’ll just have to…do the cooking today! I can’t wait to see how that turns-out!

In all seriousness, with how many lives were lost in the past year, I am just grateful—very grateful–to be having another birthday! I mean it. That’s such a gift in itself these days.

So, to lighten the mood a tad and give you all a little bit of mirth, here’s a fun video I did a couple of years ago, (looking awful, I admit,) about my funniest birthday party ever: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLFgQRCDZ1M. Even if you’ve seen it before, a tale of my personal bday pain is always sure to cheer everyone up somewhat! [Note: Spoiler Alert: After re-watching this video to make sure it was good enough to show you again, we had to run right out and get a Carvel ice cream cake again for my birthday today! I haven’t had one since then. I just hope it will be decorated better.]

11159450_10153260736063872_2829694014875492986_nEvery year, as I blow-out my candles, I make a silent wish and then loudly say, “And world peace!,” as a joke to whoever is with me. (The joke is me making believe I didn’t really wish something shallow.) But this year, that’s more in line with being just about my only wish.

I’m really wishing hard for the pandemic to finally be over and people to stop dying. And for the vaccine to become available to everyone, and for it to work perfectly! Outside of my health issues, I’m not in any group that should rightfully be getting it first, so I’m waiting my turn patiently. But I can’t think of anything I’d love more as a bday gift. Oh wait—I also wish for Orange Hitler’s hateful followers to finally see the light and stop harming people! (My early wish came true in November, when this country voted to get rid of the deranged despot-wannabe. So there’s that.)

file_4ee56b10And, I almost forgot, (only because it’s been my daily wish for ten months now)—I wish for everyone to take the virus seriously, and do all the right things to get rid of it: wear a mask, wash hands often, don’t gather, and stay home! And get the vaccine when you can; please don’t be a crazy anti-vaxxer and endanger us all.

Other than those real-world gifts, I can’t think of anything material I need this year, outside of maybe some soul-soothing ice cream. (Anything in the chocolate category, of course.)

And, if you really want to help me celebrate, and don’t already follow me on my social media platforms, I’d so appreciate you doing so right now. Here’s all the info you need:

And lastly, and very happily, for once I’m not the first to wish me a happy birthday—several friends, who obviously realize how sensitive I am about the day, have already started very early this year. I love knowing that they remember my birthday without Facebook having to remind them!!!

So, a major thank you to everyone who’s helping me celebrate in any way. And, of course, a very Happy Birthday to myself!

Share.
