CELEB SIGHTINGS 20!

September was a juicy month, celebrity sightings-wise. With all the early-Fall Emmys activities came a glut of them in Los Angeles. And there were some fun ones that were totally unrelated to the awards, too. Here are the highlights:

9/18/12 In the wee hours of the morning, (well, actually, it was just after midnight,) newest Laker Dwight Howard getting into/talking to someone in a car in front of the L’Ermitage Hotel on Burton Way in Beverly Hills! He’s so much taller and skinnier than I had imagined, but that smile confirmed that it was definitely Dwight. It looks like he’s already having fun in his new city.

9/18/12 I guess those twenty-four hours were juicy for celeb sightings in front of hotels because later that day, Samuel L. Jackson was driving east on Wilshire, in front of the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, in a Range Rover, with windows down and rocking his usual shades.

Andy Dick and Karen Salkin. No, Karen didn't cut off her fabulous hair! She was just rocking a ponytail on that super-hot day! Photo by Karen Feiler.

9/19/12 The converse to the lovely young actress I tell you about in the next sighting (see below,) was bad-behaving comedian Andy Dick, whom I also ran into at an Emmys suite. He was at first polite, asking to sit next to me on a couch. But later on, he shoved me in the back, by accident, but when I reacted to the pain, he didn’t even apologize. So, now I have to surmise that all the other reports on him are true, and that he’s aptly named, if you get my drift.

9/19/12 There are always celebs at gifting suites—that’s who’s getting gifted! Duh. But at the Secret Room, I was most excited to see Lauren Potter, who plays Becky on Glee. I saw this pretty little blonde girl in an adorable salmon polka-dot dress, spreading sunshine, and as I was smiling along, I blurted out, “Oh, it’s Becky!” I was happier to recognize her than she was to be recognized! That’s the kind-of celeb I like.

9/19/12 At yet another suite, Wow Creations, I spied always popular Emmy-nominee Mayim Bialik, a few weeks removed from her horrific hand injury in a car crash. (For those of you expecting a finger update from me, I wasn’t rude enough to sneak a peek at her digits. Sorry about that.) The funny thing is that my new young assistant had never seen The Big Bang Theory, the show for which Mayim is nominated, but the second I mentioned Blossom, she perked right up! That’s young ‘uns for ya.

9/19/12 At the Pasadena Playhouse’s opening of Under My Skin, I felt like it was homecoming at the Motion Picture Home, in a good way. There were so many talented seniors in the audience; I’m guessing they were all there to see compatriot Hal Linden. The list included Doris Roberts, Sally Kellerman, (who’s still-skinny body I couldn’t be more jealous of,) and Joe Bologna, sitting two seats over from me with his wife, Renee Taylor. Renee was right next to me, and I found it amusing that she chewed gum like a New Yorker for the first forty minutes and then fell asleep! Good times.

9/21/12 At the GBK pre-Emmys lounge, I caught Guys With Kids star Anthony Andrews on his way out, and Modern Family‘s Rico Rodriquez on the way in, rocking his new svelte body! Good for him to have lost some weight. And I guess he grew a couple of inches, as well. He looked great.

Ali Landry. Phtoto by Karen Salkin.

9/30/12 The month ended on a high note, with a women’s conference honoring Ali Landry for her charity work on behalf of mothers. She’s even more beautiful in person; I hadn’t realized she was so tall and skinny. But she admitted that her hair is extensions, something the rest of the assemblage seemed to know about; that topic always makes me feel bad because nowadays everyone can have fake hair that rivals my own real luxurious locks!!! It’s just not fair.
