YANKEES WIN THE AL EAST!

This one is going to be short and sweet: Congratulations to the Yankees for winning their division! Yet again.

For those who don’t pay attention to baseball, it was a scary end to the season for us New York Yankees fans. About a month ago, they were so far ahead of the other teams in their division. And then, I still don’t get what happened, but they began losing.

The season came down to literally the very last game, #162, which was played yesterday. And they won it. In grand fashion.

I’m too exhausted from the last few games this week to write deets, but there are plenty of excellent sports sites where you can look up the whole story, if I’ve whetted your appetite, (and you don’t already know what took place.)

So, suffice it to say that I’m very excited, for them and for me. And, of course, for the rest of their fans. Those last few games were nail-biting. That is, up until the bottom of the second last night, when I felt I might finally be able to relax a little.

So, the post-season begins for the Yanks on Sunday, when, once again, my stomach will be in knots. But I’ll be loving every second of it!

[Note: also, major congrats to Miguel Cabrera, of the Detroit Tigers, who just won baseball’s Triple Crown. (That means winding-up the season as #1 in batting average, home runs, and runs batted in, an amazing feat.) No one had won it for forty-five years!!! It’s an absolutely incredible achievement, and I’m happy for him. And I’m grateful that I got to witness it.]
