HAPPY HOLIDAY!
Just want to wish you all a very happy, healthy, and safe holiday. And here’s my gift to you all:
DON’T SEE NINE!!! I saw the Broadway show a number of years ago, and was already definitely not a fan. This movie was even worse. The friend I brought was jumping out of her skin to see it. I could tell that she wasn’t enjoying it just by the vibe. After about twenty minutes, she leaned over and said, “Boy, were you right!” Duh.
There actually are a few positives: it’s always great to see Sophia Loren, Fergie (of whom I’m not a particular fan) sang great, Judi Dench managed to get two or three laughs out of the dumbstruck audience I saw it with, and best of all, Daniel Day-Lewis is one of the very few people I’ve ever heard pronounce “forehead” [“forrid,” kind-of] correctly!!! (It’s not really the “fore-head” most people say; that pronunciation was added to many dictionaries in recent years to keep up with the popular mispronunciation. I’ll explain more if I ever get my Grammar category up and running.)
So there you have it! A mini-review and grammar lesson, in one column! Nothing says “Happy Holiday” like a quick schooling!
HAPPY HOLIDAY! SEE YOU ALL AT THE SALES!
