HAPPY SPRING HOLIDAYS 2012

I just re-read my column from this time last year, and I absolutely cannot improve on the Easter suggestions contained in it, so here’s the link to it, in case you need some ideas: www.itsnotaboutme.tv/news/2011/04/22/holidays-happy-earth-day…and-easter

But this season reminded me of something, so I figured I’d add some new musings.

When I first moved here as a teen-ager, the Spring holidays were in a row–two nights of Passover seders followed immediately by Easter Sunday. I couldn’t believe my good fortune of being so popular so soon as to be invited for all three dinners to different friend’s parents’ houses. It was so wonderful! And exactly what the season should be like.

This is only the third time that I can remember these dates coming in this configuration again, so I’m hoping for as much friendship as in those early LA days. But no one I know now seems to be as fun as the people back then, so we’ll see.

The holidays also happened in a row in 1995, although that one was a tad stressful for me; the hostesses of both of the seders I was invited to did the absolutely un-Jewish thing of not allowing me to bring one friend, simply because he or she was young. (They didn’t actually come out and say that, but that was the way it seemed, and to this day, I’m sure that was it.) And the big, hip Easter party in Malibu that I went to was full of druggies, like Gary Busey, and I had to keep one friend away from them, (he had recently told me of his drug-filled past,) and keep my young female friend and me safe from the creepy guys in attendance. Good times.

But regardless of what this weekend brings for me, I want to wish you all the best, no matter which holiday you’re celebrating.
