CHARITY: COMFORT COMPANIONS INC.

COMFORT COMPANIONS INC.

After my recent fabulous garage sales, during which I noticed just how many items I’ve accumulated that would benefit others more than they do me at this point, I was looking around for a few great charities who would be thrilled to accept my material donations.

IMG_2413And I was very happy to discover a new one, Comfort Companions Inc., that I think is so worthwhile that I’m recommending it to you guys, too, for your own holiday/year-end donations.

Here’s their mission statement: “Comfort Companions Inc. is a charitable, nonprofit organization that provides psychological and comfort care for those undergoing medical rehabilitation or nearing the end of life.  Our mission is to meet the physical, psychological, and emotional needs of vulnerable and traditionally underserved individuals within the health care system from a culturally, medically, and age-sensitive perspective.”

The organization was founded by SoCal’s own Dr. Tracey Burrell, who is an award-winning licensed and published psychologist, along with Director of Marketing and Communications, Noelle Hannibal; sadly, they’re both personally familiar with the needs of so many in the areas listed in their statement. I’ve met these two caring individuals, and totally see why they came up with this wonderful concept for their charity. [Note: That’s Tracey in the big picture at the top of this page, the middle of all the lovely donations from Christmas 2020, when the charity had just begun.]

Since Comfort Companions Inc. is just one year old, they’re especially appreciative of all donations right now, monetary and otherwise, especially for the holidays.

Here’s some of what they’d be happy to receive right away:

~ Clothing, including scarves, knit caps, outerwear, wraps, slippers, bathrobes, nightgowns, pajamas, shawls, soft socks with grips, sweatshirts, sweatpants, and sweaters.
~ Electronics, including tablets, radios, televisions, CD players, and digital photo frames.
~ Essentials, such as bath and grooming products. (i.e. lip balm, lotion, scented soap, deodorant, body spray, brush/comb set, aftershave, and cosmetics.)
~ Activities and games, such as jigsaw puzzles, board games, large print activity books, dominos, playing cards, and word search.
~ Art/craft/writing supplies, which means paint, brushes, painting paper, writing pens, coloring pens and pencils, stationery, stamps, address books, knitting and crochet materials, sketchpads, adult coloring books, and crayons.
~ And, of course, lots of blankets.

I’m doing my part to contribute to this worthy organization which is doing their best to make the holidays a bit brighter for their clients. I hope you can follow suit. And I promise that your own holidays will be happier for your kindness.
