HOLIDAY: FOURTH OF JULY

FOURTH OF JULY

I can’t believe that it’s here again, the holiday that just about everyone I know ignores! Last year, I was moping around the house, after a morning swim sesh at a pal’s parents’ pool, raring to go, and none of my friends wanted to do anything. I assumed that I just chose the wrong people to ask, and that somewhere someone I knew must be doing something, but no.

After the actual holiday, when others called me to see what fun event I had gone to, I realized that ALL my friends, no matter how old or young, rich or poor, active or not, had just stayed home, as well.

Mr. X and I had gone to see the week-before-the-4th fireworks in Santa Monica, so I was really fine doing nothing on the actual date last year. It was actually kind-of cool to be in the house, with no deadline pressures, or the like.

So, this year, might I suggest that we all stay around our own abodes and just do what Mr. X suggests we do every day–RELAX! Except for missing fireworks, it’s really a cozy, and more importantly, a safe thing to do.

I was planning on doing a panel review of some perfect snacks for the occasion, but time ran out, so hopefully, that column will be ready in time for Labor Day festivities.

And let’s face it, that strawberry and cream recipe that I wrote for you in my first Wimbledon column last week, really took a lot out of me! (Don’t forget to get it ready tonight, to have in time for Breakfast At Wimbledon in the morning. And on the Fourth of July, as well, for the Men’s Final, which very sadly and shockingly, will not include the stranger I love the most, Roger Federer.) [Note: here’s the link to that column, in case you can’t find it and desperately want your strawberries and cream!: https://www.itsnotaboutme.tv/news/2010/06/21/sports-wimbledon-2010/ ]

I WISH YOU ALL A VERY FUN, AND SAFE, FOURTH OF JULY WEEK-END! See you back here on the 5th.
