NATIONAL DAY: NATIONAL LOVE YOUR PET DAY

NATIONAL LOVE YOUR PET DAY

This column will be short and sweet. That’s because the “special day” itself is soooo stupid!!!

Tomorrow is National Love Your Pet Day. But how is there just one Love Your Pet day??? As every pet owner knows, (or should,) every second of every day is that!

I wouldn’t even be writing about it except for that I’m astonished by that whole concept. And also because it gives me an excuse to celebrate the two best dogs who ever lived, Bud, The Wonder Dog and Clarence, The Singing Dog. How lucky can one girl get?!

I just have to explain the reason I know about this National Day to begin with. In real life, (i.e. prior to exactly a year ago,) ItsNotAboutMe.TV was filled with my reviews of parties, theatre opening nights, movies, awards shows, restaurants, celeb sightings, travel, gifting events, and celebrity gossip, (to name just a few of my over-forty categories!) But about a month into the pandemic, my hitherto-occasional essays became the norm.

So, to have something colorful and fun to bring to your attention every now and then for the past eleven months, I started writing about the most interesting National Days, the concept of which I was never even aware before 2017. Of course, I don’t write about even a tiny percent of them; just the ones that catch my eye because I have an appropriate story. (Or recipe, in the case of national food days!)

But this one grabbed my attention for a different reason—because of the sheer stupidity of the concept of one day on which to love your pet!

So I just say, “Oh well” to it, realizing that they can’t all be winners.

Now go hug your pets, and maybe give them an extra treat to celebrate National Love Your Pet Day!

  1. UPDATE: I found this out after we we had published this column, or else it would have made it in there:

A-hole Ted Cruz obviously NEVER loves his pet; he and his wife left their tiny dog alone in Texas, in a house with NO HEAT, and probably only frozen water in the dog dish, while they went to Mexico for four days!!! They told the outside security guard to feed #Snowflake while they were away! How loving of them. #PETA should help get that dog away from those abusive owners!
