NUDESTIX MEET & GREET

Since I was teen-age model, I’ve been make-up obsessed.  I have more products than Sephora does, yet I’m always happy to welcome a new brand into the fold.

Bronzing PencilsAs a matter of fact, as I was telling Taylor Frankel, of Nudestix (which I’ll get to in a second, of course,) when I was recently cleaning out my childhood home, I found lots of my teen-age make-up! I wish I had room to start a Karen Museum with it because it killed me to throw it all out. My all-time (still) favorite lipstick was Toast, a shimmery nude. When I found it (though I’ve thought of it often through the years, even before I discovered the actual tubes in my basement,) I was wondering why no one has re-invented those shades, which look flattering on just about everyone. And now, here’s Nudestix!

I was introduced to the brand at a lovely poolside luncheon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel last week. (It was actually a rainy day, which made sitting under the cabana tent that much more wonderful to me!) The event was to debut their new Bronzing Pencil, but, since I had never even heard of this brand before, it was all new to me!

Eight of us sat around a big square table, and played with the products, which made me feel like I was back in my first grade class, at the so-called “Smart Table.” And…I was still the smartest because I’ve been playing with make-up the longest!!! (The other media girls were in their twenties.) So, the day was a winner from the get-go.

The meal choices were all healthful ones, which I appreciated. I chose a Cobb Salad, (with no e-words, of course!,) and it was pretty delish. I’m glad to see that the restaurant that I reviewed so favorably for the hotel a few years ago is still rocking!

Nudestix is a family project, so this presentation was led by mom Jenny, who created the line, and added to by her eighteen-year-old daughter Taylor, who, with younger teen-age sister Ally, are the faces of it. (Ally had to stay home in Canada for school exams. Guess their semester goes longer than ours, so be grateful, American teens!) Jenny demonstrated contouring with the bronzing pencil on her own already-beautiful face, and it looked like the easiest thing in the world to do.

A nude palette looks good on everyone. I’ve long tried to explain to my fellow light-eyed pals that black liner is not always the way to go, except with a smokey eye for night.  I’ve even had to to give my multiple bronze eye liner pencils away, whenever I see someone doing it wrong. (I have a friend with yellow eyes, which are so unique and beautiful, who was using black liner.  OMG!) So, I was happy to receive a new bronzing pencil that I will keep all to myself.

Of course, sometimes color is in order, so you can use these stix as your daily ones, and augment when necessary. They’re incredibly easy to use. And perfect to carry with you, too. Each creamy pencil comes in its own cute mirrored box, with a slim sharpener.

We all left with several of the products, which, of course, I loved, but I haven’t had time to play with them yet. You know that when I do, you’ll be the first to know my thoughts on them, so stay tuned!
