ELIZABETH GRANT EVENT

Trust me, there is no cuter “senior” than my little mother. It’s not even possible. And that’s not just my opinion–everyone who knows her says so. Her best friend calls her Miss Marple. (As usual, look it up, if you need to.)

But I recently met the glamorous version of her at an event at the Andaz Hotel, which is the newer, hipper, updated Hyatt on Sunset. (Not that my mother’s not glamorous; she’s just natural. Never worn make-up nor had her hair nor nails done. The exact opposite of me!)

The lady I met is Elizabeth Grant, CEO of Elizabeth Grant Skin Care, from Toronto. I love that many of the women in her family work in this company that Ms. Grant founded in 1958, anchored by a product she developed right after World War II!!! It’s a long story you can find on her website, but she told it to me in person because I asked if there was anything she could suggest to get rid of the scar on the side of my nose, from skin cancer surgery. (Like my nose isn’t prominent enough already! But as my site states, It’s Not About Me!)

She went on to tell me that her face had been heavily scarred from shrapnel and how she fixed it with her cosmetic invention when she was Vivian Leigh’s make-up artist! Now this is a woman worth listening to!

She was in Los Angeles to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the second annual Women’s International Film & Television Showcase, (I want one next year!), I’m assuming for her make-up and skincare work. I was invited to the awards reception, but had committed to some other event. But I didn’t want to miss meeting Elizabeth, as I had met her granddaughter, Margot, a few years ago, and she told me about her grandma’s flawless skin. I wanted to see it for myself.

So, I met with her at the Andaz the night before the awards, and was not disappointed. We should all look as good at her age. Or any age, for that matter. As I was coveting her skin, she told me she was coveting my hair! Thank goodness I had a commitment elsewhere or we’d still be on the mezzanine complimenting each other!

Nothing ever beats having someone dig my tresses, but coupled with meeting a successful and nice fam, having some great mini chocolate treats, and getting a gold cosmetic case full of Elizabeth Grant Skin Care products, this whole evening was right up there! Now if only her go-getter attitude can rub off on me, even a little, I’ll be all set in life.
