HOLIDAY: HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY 2019

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY 2019

With so much pain in this world these days, I feel a bit vapid, celebrating a silly holiday. But we all need a little love, especially right now, so on we go.

It’s sort-of nice that Valentine’s Day falls on a late week-day this year, so not everyone feels they have to celebrate at the same time. Being a Thursday, many couples will postpone the festivities until the week-end, making it easier for usual non-celebrants, such as Mr. X and me, to go out on the actual holiday, though we usually do not.

But today will be special in that we’ll be going out to…the marvelous El Capitan theatre in Hollywood to see none other than one of the most romantic movies of all time—Disney’s Lady and the Tramp!

I don’t usually like to repeat events, and we did do exactly this same thing on a long ago Valentine’s Day, but for me, this is the perfect way to celebrate. And, since we already made a delish pasta dish to have when we get home, you just know that we’ll be sharing a strand or two, to emulate the in-love canines. (And if you want to emulate us, here’s my recipe that we’ll be using: itsnotaboutme.tv/news/recipe-karens-checca-pasta-recipe-with-a-lot-of-choices. Sorry—no meatballs.)

Of course, there’s absolutely no shame in not celebrating at all, whether you’re coupled-up or not. It’s literally just one day out of the year.

Can anyone see the two things that are making me crazy about this greeting card? Ready--1) The "G" isn't capital, which it should be, and 2) There should be an apostrophe before the "s."

And singletons of both sexes can just hang-out with their pals tonight. Mr. X and I were apart on one February 14, so I made it a “Galentine Day,” and went out to afternoon tea with a few of my gal pals. (And we all wore red, of course.) I actually used the term “Galentine” all those years ago, and it’s finally coming into vogue just now. Better late than never. But I love being a trendsetter, no matter how long it takes for others to catch on! (I know, I know—people are trying to make Galentine’s Day be on February 13th, instead of 14th, which is just stupid—the whole purpose of it is to not be alone on Valentine’s Day! Do I have to think of everything for some people???)

So, we’ve established that I love Mr. X and my friends. But there’s one group of people I adore above most. And that’s…you, dear readers! My readers and social media followers are seriously near and dear to my heart. Every time I meet “fans,” I just want to give them my first born, to show how much they mean to me! (Of course, I never had kids, so that’s out of the question. However, I’m always willing to give away my siblings and their fams. But those are stories for not this day of love!)

No matter what you all do to celebrate today/tonight, or not, have a fabulous and Happy Valentine’s Day! And remember, this Valentine loves you all!
