MILLENNIUM MAGIC XVI PREVIEW

My Holiday Gift Guide will be out tomorrow, but, if you live in LA, here’s one early idea that everyone on your list will love!

Screen Shot 2015-11-26 at 1.30.08 PMThe one event that I won’t miss this time of year is Millennium Magic. And you shouldn’t either! Especially if you’ve always wished you could get into the Magic Castle, which is actually a private club. This is your chance to see magicians who appear at the Castle, without you and your guests having to dress way up, and having to order their pretty pricey dinner. Millennium Magic is the way to go.

Luckily for all of us in and around Los Angeles, professional magicians Jeanine Anderson and George Tovar bring us a bunch of their fellow pros right at the much more convenient Theatre West. It’s really a delightful afternoon or evening.

In case you’ve never seen it before, Millennium Magic is an ever-changing show filled with performances by all professional magicians. There’s something for everyone, including illusions and comedy magic. There are a trio of performances during that weekend, and each one is different. (So you can go to all three, and not see the same show twice! That way, you’ll get the full Millennium Magic experience!)

If you want to check-out the performers beforehand, here’s the list of magicians who are due to appear at this year’s Millennium Magic, (keeping in mind that it’s subject to change; magicians are an always-in-demand bunch!):

Friday Dec. 4—8PM–Tom Frank, Bruce Gold, Charlie Mount, and Tom Ogden.

Saturday Dec. 5—8PM–Jon Armstrong, Fitzgerald, Crow Garrett, and Charlie Mount.

Sunday Dec. 6–2PM–Alfonso, Micah Cover, Charlie Mount and Luis Solorzano.

And, of course, the hosts, Jeanine and George, will be performing at all of them.

And don’t forget to dress cute! You never know when you’ll be chosen as an assistant!

I actually have a funny story about that. Last year, a friend of mine was here from the East Coast, and she told me that she had just chosen a new career path—she wanted to be a magician’s assistant! I asked her how she was planning to go about that, and she had no idea.

Coincidentally, I had already invited her to last year’s edition of Millennium Magic, but I hadn’t even mentioned what it was because I was in a rush. I just told her we were going to a really fun show. When we got there, and she found out it was a magic show, she couldn’t contain her excitement! And the second they asked for a volunteer, her hand shot up and she ran on stage. And guess what? She was actually good at being a helper! (I’m sure it didn’t hurt that’s she’s a tall, thin, sexy redhead!)

On the way home, she said that that appearance had cemented her new plan. She just had to be involved in the world of magic. So, maybe this can wind-up being a new career path for you, as well! (Her ex-boyfriend came with us, too, and a few weeks later, he told me that that was the best date they had ever had! Now he’s hooked on Millennium Magic, as well, and will be my “date” again this year! It’s the one event he won’t miss, either!)

And remember—Theatre West always provides free parking, right across the street from the theater. If that isn’t magic in Los Angeles, I don’t know what is!
