MILLENNIUM MAGIC XV PREVIEW

Halloween may be over, but the magic continues!

TW_MM15_FrontCard_4x6_R1.inddWell, only for those of us who are lucky enough to live in or near Los Angeles, that is. If you’re one of us, and are looking for something very fun to do this coming week-end, trust me when I tell you that seeing Millennium Magic XV at Theatre West is the way to go!

I’ve seen other renditions of this show in previous years, including last year, and it’s truly wonderful. And, with a magician winning America’s Got Talent this summer, magic is the most hip art right now. This is your own chance to see it up-close and personal, without having to go to Vegas or the like.

Millennium Magic XV runs three nights (including one day) only, and each show is unique. Producers/magicians/hosts Jeanine Anderson and George Tovar are staples throughout, but here’s the rest of the roster so far. (Please keep in mind that all entertainment line-ups like this are subject to change.):

Friday, November 7 at 8:00 p.m.: Arthur Trace, Joe Monti, Stoil and Ekaterina, Greg Wilson, Lindsay Benner. (And I had thought that Jeanine Anderson was the only female magician. Glad to know there’s another. Girl power!)

Saturday, November 8 at 8:00 p.m.: Bob Jardine, Handsome Jack, Greg Wilson, and Mayseo.

Sunday, November 9 at 2:00 p.m.: Mike Elkan, Dennis Forel, Brandon Scott, and a special guest TBA!

Here’s a little background on a couple of the headliners:

Greg Wilson is the son of legendary magician Mark Wilson, who was the first magician on TV, in the ’60s! Talk about back in the day! I’m sure he was the one who introduced many of you, (or your families,) to magic to begin with! And now Greg is a grown-up magician in his own right, carrying-on the family legacy. Way to go, Wilsons!

Master magician Bob Jardine. (I'm not showing you his hands; you'll have to see those babies in action for yourselves!)

Master magician Bob Jardine. (I’m not showing you his hands; you’ll have to see those babies in action for yourselves!)

Bob Jardine is truly my favorite magician of all time! I’ve seen him numerous times, including in Vegas, and I can still never figure-out how he does any of it! There are many others whose tricks I can decipher pretty quickly, (especially on TV,) but Bob always amazes me. Every time. And I’ve seen him do close-up work! The even better part of Bob’s performance is that he’s a riot. Pure entertainment through and through. I believe he came to LA from New York especially to do this show, so try not to miss him. I know that I won’t! (If you’re there on Saturday night, too, please say hi.)

Not only is the show full of top magicians, but last year the audience was kind-of famous, as well. (And no—I’m not talking about myself. This time, anyway.) Last year, I sat next to Bob Odenkirk from Breaking Bad and Nebraska, (and now due to have his own spin-off of the former,) and we chatted a lot. (Not during the show, of course. That will be happy news to the producers, I’m sure!) You never know whom you’re liable to run into at this well-thought-of theatre.

So, you’d be a fool to miss this fabulous time! You can even go to all three performances, and not see the same show twice. And Millennium Magic XV costs the same, (or less!,) than a movie nowadays, which is quite the bargain for so much live merriment. To make it an even easier experience, there’s a free parking lot right across the street from the theatre! Free parking in LA? Now, that’s magic!
