WESTERN FOODSERVICE & HOSPITALITY EXPO 2015 PREVIEW
No matter what is happening in my life in the summer, I make sure not to miss the Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo at L.A.’s Convention Center. It’s really one of the highlights of my year! (I’m so serious about it that, in 2013, I made a supreme effort to attend on the day before my first hand surgery, when I couldn’t even carry a bag!!! But doing so cheered me up for the next day’s ruggedness.)
Even though it’s not open to the public, I want to alert all my restaurant personnel readers to the upcoming one, on August 23-25. In an effort to not leave any of the exhibitors out, I attend all three days. And, even though it’s work, it’s fun because each day has its own vibe.
I’ve been attending it for very many years, basically since the first or second season of my former television show, Karen’s Restaurant Revue. Even though reviewing food is not the only focus of this e-zine, ItsNotAboutMe.TV, I still like to keep up with all the innovations that go into running a successful eatery. And let me tell you, the Western Expo is definitely the place to learn what’s happening! I always bump into conscientious eatery owners who are doing just that.
And I love discovering new culinary (and related) products to tell you about. To that end, this year I’m participating in something special at the show. I’ll be “judging” something called “Pitch the Press.” It’s not actually a contest; rather it’s a chance for several chosen companies to showcase their wares to the media. (And we’ll help them perfect their pitches.) It’s a fabulous opportunity for new products and companies. And I’m proud to be a part of it!
I’ll share the highlights of my discoveries with you the week after the Expo, so you’ll be the first to know what to look for at your city’s restaurants really soon.
Happy Dining, to us all!
