LA FOOD FEST 2019

Being a foodie since Day 1, (okay, an acknowledged one since I was first a restaurant critic on my former TV series, Karen’s Restaurant Revue,) I cannot believe that this is the first year I’ve ever heard of the upcoming ten-year-old LA Food Fest! But now that I’m finally in the loop, I can tell you that I will not be missing it this year!

And since I don’t want any of you to miss-out now, either, here’s all the essential information on the festival.

It will be held on June 29th at a venue I visited a few times last year, and really enjoyed—Santa Anita Park in Arcadia. But it’s on the infield, a place I’ve never been before! So that’s a little bonus that I’m really looking forward to, besides stuffing my face with delish treats all day! (Just make sure to wear comfortable shoes. And expandable pants!!! Just sayin’.)

And just who provides these tidbits, you may ask? There will be about one hundred food and drink purveyors, including restaurants, carts, food trucks, bars, and breweries! Who needs more than that?!

WacWFvx0In addition to fare from tried and true places, guests will be the first to sample food from new eateries, which is always a special feeling, being in with the in-crowd. The LA Food Fest will also feature vegan food, so you can take your annoying meat-and-dairy-shunning friends with you, and not have to worry about them!

I’m so glad that I’ve already been dieting for seven weeks at this point, so that I can enjoy the many desserts at this event! Let me at ’em!

There will also be live music and activities for the kiddies, although many of the young ’uns I know would much rather eat than have their faces painted! That’s my kind of tots! (Younger self Ronnie Hazel—I’m thinking of you!)

And it’s one of those pay-only-one-price-for-it-all dealios. You pay, and then enter and eat and drink to your heart’s content without having to go into your wallet even one more time!!! How cool is that?!

I especially love the “food fest” moniker, which I labeled all my parties over a decade ago, (because I either shorten or lengthen a lot of words. ) Many of my show’s viewers and e-zine readers deemed it a quaint expression that I came up with back then, and thought it wouldn’t catch-on, but every time I hear it or read it somewhere, I swell with pride. (Not that anyone is ever copying me; but these expressions have to begin somewhere, and if I was even a minuscule part of this one, I’m proud!) For now, I’m just glad to not have to throw the events myself anymore—I’d much rather attend this LA Food Fest, and let them do all the work!

And you know that I really appreciate events who give to charities. Well, the LA Food Fest gives a portion of their proceeds to Food Forward, an organization that “fights hunger, and prevents food waste by rescuing fresh surplus produce, connecting this abundance with people in need, and inspiring others to do the same.”  That collaboration is perfect for LA Food Fest because, as of right now, it’s LA’s only Zero Food Waste event!

All that being said, for once I don’t have all the answers, (I know—it’s a shock, right?,) so I suggest you check-out their website below for the exact deets.

And I hope to see you all there! Please come up and say hi, unless I’m about to bite into a Pie Hole, (which I’ve been dying to try!)
