BLP CONNECTHER EVENT PREVIEW

I missed this conference last year because I had to be in New York, and have been disappointed about that ever since. (That I missed the event, not that I was in NY!) I don’t think that there’s anyone in Los Angeles who knows more about networking and connecting than the head honcho here, Laura Medina-Filipowicz.

Casa Del Mar.

So, I made my whole fall schedule around this year’s version, which is happening on September 30, 2012 at the beautiful Casa Del Mar hotel in Santa Monica. The destination alone is worth the time! (Isn’t this picture of it mouth-watering???)

I’m eager to learn what all these women know about heading a business. When you’re a writer, you work in such a vacuum that you don’t know how others are going about their jobs! Everyone thinks I know everything, but I have a feeling this event will teach me things I’ve never even thought of.

BLP ConnectHER is an all-day, interactive event for female (sorry, guys) entrepreneurs, marketers, “social media Influencers,” and the like. It’s not often that others in our fields want to share their techniques and secrets, so this should be very enlightening. We may not get another crack at it until next year’s conference, so we have to grab this chance while we can!

The attendees are also invited to visit the VIP Lounge, where we’ll get to interact directly with the panelists and speakers. What can be better than that? (They may have to extend the session till the next day if I start asking my many questions!)

Ali Landry.

And they’ll be honoring actress, and former Miss USA, Ali Landry with the MOMpreneur of the Year Award. She’s the perfect example of someone who went from national attention about her short-lived first marriage, (I’ll let her tell you that story, if she chooses,) to a well-respected entrepreneur, show biz personality, and parenting spokeswoman. Not to mention that it appears she still looks great! (But you know that I‘ll be the judge of that when I meet her in person!)

The best to some of us, (I’m not naming names, even my own!,) will be the lunch and swag-bar portion of the day. I’ve been to other events thrown by this company that included “gifting,” and I’ve found some wonderful new companies at them. And who won’t be excited to dine at Casa Del Mar? You all know that I can’t wait for that part!

One last note about Laura: I brought her to the high-powered QVC Oscars party earlier this year, as a way of paying her back for all her kindnesses to everyone. I was breaking-down the event for her, thinking I‘d show her the ropes. But this tiny powerhouse knew everyone! And those she didn’t know, she went over and met, in an endearing way. While I practically hid behind trees to take pix of the celebs in attendance, she walked right up, told them she loved what they were wearing, and asked if she could take a photo to post on social media sites! It was quite the education for me, and that’s one of the many reasons I trust her to put on a great, enlightening conference this month.

Hope to see you there! We’ll all learn together. (But, as I used to say to Mr. X at that early morning hour, when we were first together, nobody look at anything! I just can’t look my best until at least noon.)
