A FEW MORE DANCING WITH THE STARS RANDOM MUSINGS

As this season of Dancing With The Stars is drawing to a close, (yeah, I know—enough already,) I feel I must weigh-in one more time because last night’s show brought so many thoughts to mind.

The Brothers Chmerikovskiy. Is there someone else in this picture???

None more forefront in my brain than the nagging question, “How is Melissa Gilbert living my life?!,” which came out of my mouth as soon as she finished dancing with the Brothers Chmerikovskiy, which ended with her hands on both their butts! And the guys were half-naked, too!!! First getting to dance with Maks all season, then having Smokey sing Ooo Baby Baby while she performed, and now getting to be in the middle of a Maks and his little bro Val sandwich??? It’s just too much for me to bare. And all this from someone I never, ever thought of in my whole life. I was never jealous of her acting career; I actually never even noticed her presence in the biz. And now, at almost fifty, she’s the luckiest female on the planet. And living out my fantasy. How does that happen???

All that being said, I think that my crush on Maks may have to be over because I realize now that he would kill me in the first two weeks of knowing me. Contrary to popular belief, I think that most guys in my life wind-up getting that feeling eventually, but I think it would take Maks much less time to get there. As my inner circle knows, Mr. X is a saint!

I’ve long thought that the judges on DWTS should give each duo two marks; one for technique and the other for presentation. But now I think that they should also give one for effort. It doesn’t have to weigh as much as the other two, but should count for something.

Len Goodman.

I hate when the other two judges tell Len that he’s crazy; he’s the only one who’s in the ballroom world! He’s been a dancer, judge, and teacher, so of course he knows best. Bruno was a basic music video type of dancer, and Carrie Anne was hip-hop! I still don’t know how those two ever got this gig to begin with, and it does kind-of chap my hide, especially because they’re so annoying and full of themselves.

Opera singer Katherine Jenkins received her lowest marks ever last night for her waltz, prompting this theory from me: I think the celebs don’t do as well in their specialty because they’re nervous about the extra expectations of them those weeks: i.e. Katherine on Classical Week, Gladys Knight on Motown Night, and Gavin DeGraw on Rock Week.

Idiot judge Carrie Anne told Derek Hough and Maria Menounous that their connection was “very unique.” Is she crazy??? It’s far from unique–it’s Derek and every partner he’s every had!

And she didn’t take off a point for their lift, which is something she always makes a point of doing for those inadvertent legs coming off the floor. What’s up with that?

It appears that the producers told the judges to say nicer things to Melissa.

As I was watching hunk William Levy’s threesome routine, it came to me that they didn’t make him naked this week, so they gave him the tightest pants you can dance in. Nice move, wardrobe department! [Note: Sorry, ladies; I couldn’t find a picture of it, so you’ll just have to dream.]

Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas.

It’s a double elimination tonight, so I really wish that Maria and Donald Driver would get the hook. But I have a feeling it will be Roshon and Melissa. I actually wouldn’t mind if Melissa left; I’d just hate not seeing Maks the next few weeks. But Roshon tries so hard and is better than he usually gets credit for, although the judges did rally around him last night. Finally! Maria just gets dragged around by a super-clever Derek, and Donald is beyond stiff and entitled. I’m really worried about Katherine, though, because her fan base in this country is not that big, and she didn’t get her usual “top-of-the-leader-board” marks last night. I’m biting my tongue, though, and praying she wins the whole shebang.

[Note: I feel that I should have included the final competition on The Voice in my musings here, but I never finished watching it last night. It kind-of put me to sleep, actually. But if there’s anything earth-shattering on it when I watch later, I’ll tweet about it. @KarenSalkin]
