MY ANNIVERSARY WITH LA AGAIN! AND I STILL LOVE THE PLACE!

My love affair with Los Angeles is the longest of my life! It actually predates the beginning of my stalking of obsession with dating Mr. X by three days!

I have a full day of interesting obligations planned for today, so I doubt that I can fit in my almost-annual *ride up and down PCH, which always resets my soul. So I’m a tad sad that I’ll miss doing it on my exact anniversary. But I’ll be getting so much done, things that I’ve been putting off due to my extreme laziness, that I’ll be happy with the day, anyhow. Knock on wood.

*[Note: This is my anniversary drive: I go up PCH to a bit past Malibu, and then turn around and drive back down the entire coast pretending that it’s my very first time doing so, to emulate that long-ago July 27. I then take the 10 freeway to the 405 to Westwood, and go through the village to the first apartment building that I ever stayed in LA! And the entire time, I play the song that I heard on the radio the most back then. That whole experience is just the best!]

Back to the present, one of those things that I’ll be doing today will be taking care of my health in a big way, so hopefully that will add another hundred years to my time in my beloved adopted home. So it’s all a win.

So many more things keep occurring to me to say to celebrate the occasion, but I have to get started on this busy day, so I’ll leave it here for now.

And now all of you have something to celebrate today—and that is: that you have to read only my shortest column ever! Yay!

So Happy Anniversary to LA and ME! I wish us many, many more happy years decades together.
