SPECIAL DAY: HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2026 TO ME!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2026 TO ME!

For this celebration of another trip around the sun for me, I have no big stories of birthdays past—just gratitude for yet another year. (And a bit of happiness that the girl in the dental office I’ve been frequenting for very many years mentioned the age she was sure I am now, and it’s a good one! So there’s that.)

imagesAnd as I expressed this past October, I’m also grateful for my decade “strokiversary.” (That means that I’ve been alive for ten years since I had a mini-stroke.) To celebrate that wonderful milestone, I promised myself, and others, that on most days for the next year, I would call someone I’m not in close touch with right now, but whom I still count as a friend and think about with fondness. Those connections have actually been great, even though I’ve been too busy, or too tired, (from being busy!,) to make a call as often as I had planned.

But this birthday brings up an interesting question in that arena—can I count people who call me today with birthday wishes as one of my strokiversary calls??? My friend John, who’s been living up in Ventura for many years, (which means we rarely see each other,) always calls for my bday, so I have purposely not given him a strokiversary call yet. (Which means he’ll get one toward the end of my anniversary year. Whether he wants it or not!) So I will be spending at least an hour on the phone with him today. That begs the original query—can I count his call as one of my own? (There’s no way I will be making a call to anyone on my own special day!)

To Me!Outside of phone calls, I have a request. If you’re so inclined, there’s actually a minuscule bday gift I would love from all of you. It’s the same one I asked for during the recent holidays—for those of you INAM readers who don’t already follow me on social media, to do so now. (Of course, my real druthers are services, such as massages, facials, mani/pedis, or fun meals out, like brunch or afternoon tea. But following me is much easier, for everyone involved! And I’m happy to report that several of my very good friends have already asked me to lunch this week, so I’m a happy birthday girl.)
