YOUNG VICTORIA
I finally saw a movie that I loved this season! The only problem was–it seemed soooo short! I could have easily watched the next twenty years of their lives! “Their” being England’s Queen Victoria and her family.
The strange thing is that a few months ago, on one of the many nights that I can’t sleep and just Google things that might interest me, I researched this very story! For no reason! It was way before I was aware of the film. So, remembering parts of Victoria’s early life while I was watching the movie made it more interesting. But I didn’t retain the whole story (it was the middle of the night, and I was sleep-deprived), so I kept hoping that nothing terrible was going to happen. And it didn’t!
This is real history, after all, so there are no surprises. Just a wonderful, gripping story, excellent acting, and beautiful sets, costumes, lighting, cinematography, etc.
There’s honestly nothing bad to say. Well, only that I think that Emily Blunt was possibly missing a back tooth on the upper left side, but I’ve noticed that very same thing on several actors and public figures recently. Strange. It’s all people who have enough money to get an implant. And are not even from Arkansas. I could be wrong, though–maybe she just had a small tooth back there or something.
Okay, I appear to be getting off the topic. Forget that whole last paragraph. The movie was lovely all the way around, and if you have a modicum of intelligence, and aren’t a guy with the usual male attention-span of zero point zero zero, you’ll love it. Period.
