HOLIDAY: MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND 2025

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND 2025

Before I discuss the entire upcoming holiday weekend, this is your yearly reminder of the true purpose of Memorial Day. I’m sharing that info again because, even though I wish all of us a very easy and happy next few days, I believe in paying tribute to the people for whom the honor is meant.

This basically explains the day.

This basically explains the day.

Memorial Day, which will occur, as usual, on this coming Monday, was created to honor the brave members of the armed forces who have lost their lives in service to our country. I also include everyone who has served, not just the deceased souls, in my thoughts that day. And since the holiday is, actually, a memorial, I also spare a thought for my own deceased love ones. As Mr. X always says, it can’t hurt!

As to what activities I think you should do for the next four days, (including today,) for once I have not many ideas other than to check-out all of my recent reviews to perhaps find an entertaining show to see or a delish meal to eat. Or to just have some casual and peaceful fun reading them.

I, myself, will mostly stay at home to watch the continuation of the NBA Play-offs; I’ve seen every game since April 15th! No lie. (I wish it was—that’s a lot of time out of my life. But I love it!) If I can find a few hours where there will be a break from basketball on one of the next trio of days, I hope to grab a pal and run to a happening beach fair for a little bit. Perhaps my partner-in-crime will even be Mr. X for that event because he’s enjoyed it in the past. (I can’t say he loves it, but he did have a wallet made for me that features a photo he took of me at one of those fairs, so it must be a happy memory for him.) (And yes, you nosy curious peeps—he did fill it with beaucoup bucks!!!)

But Mr. X and I will also be doing something surprising for us, which is a basic activity for most people—shopping the Memorial Day sales. For a dishwasher. I’ve been happy enough with the old school one that came with our house many moons ago; the dish space configuration is so much easier than the more modern ones. But Mr. X, always looking to waste money upgrade, often bugs me to get a new one. He’s been doing that for years! When we didn’t need one.

Have a good one!

Have a good one!

So, of course, out of the blue, it stopped working a few months ago. When we had no time to shop. And guess what? He hasn’t been into it ever since. Now I’m the one who wants to finally get a new one, and he keeps shooting me down. But, my deal with him has always been that I do all the dishwasher loads, and he does all the dishes that require washing by hand. So he’s the one who has had to wash every…single…dish…for months now. So now I have a good feeling that he’ll be more amenable to shopping for one this week-end. And I’ll be happy to get it on sale. Win-win.

And now, I wish you all a happy, and especially safe, Memorial Day week-end. (And I beg of you to please not drink and drive—you don’t want to be part of our remembrances next year, do you?)
