WOW CREATIONS GIFTING SUITE HONORING THE ESPY AWARDS

Wow Creations surprised us this time, with their new venue. They held their pre-ESPYs Awards gifting suite at the W Hotel in Hollywood, the beautiful lobby of which is pictured above. [Photo by Karen Salkin.] It was partially on the patio, and also in two of the adjacent actual suites.

My trusty assistant, Curtis, experienced it all with me; his comments throughout are the ones in quotes. Of the vibe, in general, he said, “The W is great! I especially liked the cool breeze on the terrace while looking out onto Hollywood Boulevard.”

We also enjoyed a really cute touch that happened right at the beginning, after we checked-in. The guests were each given a giant goodie bag, and, as we walked down the hall to the sponsors, we got to choose gifts along the way, which were featured on tables and shelves. It was like a mad trick-or-treat for grown-ups!

I’ll tell you about some of those in a minute, but first let’s get to the highlights of the sponsors with whom we spoke:

SolSol Solar Hat–These colorful baseball caps charge your phone with solar power while you wear them!  What a novel and wonderful-for-the-environment idea!  They’re especially great for active people who don’t want to go elsewhere for the charge. www.solsolhat.com

Burkart Organics—I was happy to introduce Curtis to these organic snacks, of which I was already a fan. This time, I tried their new Jujubes, and Curtis sampled the Apricots. He said, “I’m not a fan of dried fruit, but these were actually quite good! And they’re sun-dried, so it’s a really healthful snack.” We also tasted their organic fruit spread. I went with a theme and kept it at Jujube Butter, while Curtis chose Harvest Jam. He said he was happy that these are “way better for you” than the norm. www.burkartorganics.com

Gary Red Tees–I was glad to see this tee-shirt company back at this suite. They always come with something different each time. This go-round, the guests had a choice of tops, including little crop tanks, which I hope were just for the girls! I wouldn’t want to see them on those giant basketballers!  www.garyred.com

Cryo Max—They were gifting a variety of their reusable heat or cold packs, which I’m sure that all the athletes were happy to receive!  www.cryomax.com

Parfaire Medical Aesthetics–These skin care peeps were gifting certificates with the guests’ choice of a facial or a couple of other services, in their Pasadena office. And I knew they had good aesthetics to begin with because they had a beautiful purple-and-silver display, complete with chocolate candies wrapped in those colors! (I guess they don’t care if we eat those confections because they’ll get rid of the new pimples when they treat us!) www.parfaire.com

Churned Creamery—On such a hot day, this on-site mini ice cream parlor was a real treat for the guests. They offered up a handful of their flavors, along with several toppings. Curtis really enjoyed it, and said, his vanilla was “very smooth and creamy.” I loved that they had a Nutella flavor for me, which was chocolatey yet light. www.churnedcreamery.com

Pickled Planet–This company was gifting jars of very creative sauerkrauts. What a fun, different gift! And they each have interesting descriptions. If that condiment is not your thing, you could instead choose a colorful tee featuring—what else?–pickles, of course! www.pickledplanet.com

Other gifts included Ranch Organics soaps and body lotions, (of the “great, fantastic-smelling” soaps, Curtis said, “I left them in my bedroom and thought I had just done a fresh load of laundry with some great smelling softener!”); Theracane massagers (in either pink or blue—nice touch!); adorable Sock It To Me men’s patterned socks and underwear that Curtis deemed “whimsical and charming”; Beso Del Sol Sangria wine in pint-size cartons; Slime water-filled tire gauges; Kinesis dog kibble; Trojan, how shall I put it?, “personal pleasure assisters”; and popular flavored Hint Water.

I am disappointed in one thing, though—that I missed the major sports guys who showed-up after I left! What bad timing I had that day! Here’s who I missed: Richard Jefferson and Channing Fry from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Terrell Owens, Scott Hamilton, and Greg Louganis, all people I would have liked to see. And what an eclectic group, eh? They’re all athletes, but a more disparate group of males it would be hard to find. Unless you’re at an always-eclectic Wow Creations Gifting Suite!
