GBK GRAMMYS LOUNGE 2017

GBK, known for their unusual and fun venues, really surprised us this time by throwing their Grammys Lounge in…the McClaren luxury car dealership in Beverly Hills! What fun that was!

The whole place was decorated with records hanging from the ceiling, in honor of the Grammys being the occasion. I loved the comfortable giant space; I hate being crowded in at these events! It was all just really hip and beautiful. Alice, my contributing writer on this one, said of the atmosphere, “It was rocking! There was an energy of ‘Motown meets swanky.’ ” There was also a lot of artwork on hand, some even by celebrities such as Michael Jackson!

Adding to the fun and energy was DJ Tegan, who not only spun great tunes all day, (and kept the volume workable,) but he also looked adorable! His classy attire was a wonderful, welcome departure from the usual casual disc jockey “uniform,”, and his snappy suit went with the upscale nature of the showroom. I appreciated it all! www.djtegan.com

This is one of the few suites I’ve ever just lingered at for awhile; I usually just want to do my work there, of meeting and greeting, and then quickly get back to the office to write about the proceedings, while it’s all still fresh in my mind. But there were so many interesting people to chat with at this one! I bumped into several of my New York peeps, and it was wonderful to be able to catch up in a non-rushed way. I really enjoyed that.

But, of course, we did make it around to all the sponsors. Here are the highlights of those:

Jiusko USA Watches—I was so happy to see my new favorite watch company here! I’ve had one of their handsome designs for a little while now, and, even though I own over a hundred watches, my Juisko is the only one that I’ve worn since I got it! Their entire collection is attractive, stylish, and affordable. When I was doing my TV show, one of the things I was known for was wearing multiple wristwatches. I haven’t done that in years, but I may go back to that innovation now that I have two Juisko timepieces—just so that I don’t have to decide which one to wear each day!!! www.jiuskousa.com

Soundbot Wireless Speaker—As the girlfriend of a krump dancer, I’ve heard every kind of speaker imaginable. But this one took the cake. Besides that it sounds great, it looks great, which is more important to shallow me, of course. And there’s a triangular piece on the side that pulses along to the music. I’m not kidding, I right away thought that that would be good for hearing-impaired people to help them dance. The speaker is meant to be stationary, but the whole thing is really small enough to hold. It’s actually perfect for every use! www.soundbot.com

DermaGo—We had the most fun with the duo from this medical spa that comes to you. We trusted them so much that we both received Vitamin B-12 shots, right on site! (And in the arm. Ba-dum-bump.) The tech didn’t even hurt me a little bit, and drew no blood, but I still insisted on a band-aid, to make Mr. X feel bad for me when I got home. (No worries—I do know that I’m a tad nutty.) (And yes, I did get the sympathy I was after!) www.dermago.la

Luseta Beauty—Having enough hair for twenty people between us, we were really interested in learning about this hair care line, which was new to us.  Alice said that their combination of Argan Oil products is “the complete hair renovation.” Now, if only the contents make our tresses look as beautiful as their packaging is, we’ll be all set! www.lusetabeauty.com

Minki Lashes—We’re both girly-girls, so we rushed right over to the table that was featuring these mink eyelash strips! Alice, who wears lashes every day, (like I did in high school!,) said that these re-useable ones “look so real that no one will know you’re wearing them!” We noticed that they have all manner of lashes, from, as Ali said, “the most natural-looking to the most red carpet-ready.” www.minkilashes.com

Beauty Kitchen—Heather Marianna, the owner of this company out of Las Vegas, was rocking the cutest outfit of the day! Her style sense went along with her products, which Alice said “smell so yummy, I want to eat them!” We both appreciate that their soaps come in fun shapes such as hearts and roses, and that you can put their cherry kiss-flavored massage oil on your lips at night to condition them! www.heathermarianna.tv

Credit Accelerator—Since I was having vocal cord issues, (not a great time for it, I know,) and Alice’s other job is in the field of lending, I let her take this one all by herself. She said, “Finally, a do-it-yourself way to remove derogatory information from your credit report. This company makes it possible to fix your credit on your own, without having to hire a company to do it for you.” www.creditaccelerator.com

Chef J Jackson—This upbeat caterer from Washington, DC was on-site, gifting his special Tastic Spice. We all got to sample it sprinkled on the popcorn he was serving for that purpose. Yum! www.chefjjackson.com

Dot Com Vapor—I know absolutely nothing about vaping, but the rep at the lounge told me that they were gifting a kit designed to help the user quit smoking. I think that you all know that I’m all for everyone in the world quitting that horrible habit, so I really hope this works for those people who are still foolish enough to mess with their lives like that. www.dotcomvapor.com

The Blending Lab—Even though I don’t drink, (as I’m sure many of you know by now,) I was still interested to learn about their local tasting room. I’m sure plenty of my LA pals will be happy to visit it! www.thewineblendinglab.com

GBK always has a charity they’re supporting with their events, and this time it was Make-a-Wish. In case you’re not familiar with that organization’s wonderful work, they grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. And to raise money, they’re hosting a walk in downtown LA in April, so please make sure to check out the info on their site, to see how you can be involved. la.wish.org
