SECRET ROOM EVENT’S STYLE LOUNGE IN HONOR OF THE 2017 MTV MOVIE & TV AWARDS
This was a really fun day! Secret Room decided to get a jump on next month’s MTV Movie & TV Awards, so they brought us a wonderful gifting lounge in honor of that awards show, as soon as the nominations were announced. Clever move. All the guests were relaxed, and not having to run around like crazy people when these events are just a day or two before the show. [Note: Yes, that is the correct title, by the way–MTV is finally including TV this year, which is about time, since it’s two-thirds of their name!]
It was a gorgeous day for the event, which was held outdoors on the Garden Terrace of the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. And the joint was jumping!
I’m so impressed that the Secret Room organizers continue to find products and companies that we’ve never been aware of before, and I’m grateful to be introduced to them all!
So, let’s get to highlights of what my contributing writer, Alice, and I found there:
Santa Cruz Skate Boards—We had such a good time with their rep, Andrew. He even helped us “treasure hunt” to make sure the little key chains we received were blue! But the main attraction was their gorgeous skateboards! I swear, some of them can double as wall art! (And Andrew explained exactly how some customers do just that!) www.santacruzskateboards.com
Townley Girl—Being a girly-girl from Day 1, I cannot believe that I never heard of this right-up-my-alley company before! And they’re not new–they’ve been around for my entire life! Doing my research, I found-out that they’re considered the leader in children’s safe toy cosmetics, such as peel-able nail polish. And they’ve partnered with famous companies to bring us fabulous products, such as the Princess Kit based on Disney’s Beauty and The Beast, and the 3-in-1 bath product that looks like stacked cans of Play-Doh! Could a little (or big!) girl have more fun??? I think know not! www.townleygirl.com
Sky Essentials—This natural, botanically-derived, skincare line was created by a nurse, Yasmin, so I totally trust her…because I love nurses! We all need to acknowledge that profession more! She gave each guest at the event a ton of her time to explain all her products to them, which I’m sure we all appreciated. (I know that I did!) And she had one of the prettiest and inviting displays there. If her serums and cleaners work as well as they are attractive, everyone who received them will be looking pretty good very soon! www.skyessentialskin.com
JA Designer Collections Fiber Necklace—This is a really fun accessory, the likes of which I’ve never seen before. I’m not even sure how to describe it, but it’s basically a necklace/scarf made out of many strands of material, that you can wear in a variety of ways. No matter how you style it, Alice says that you’ll “stand out wearing it.” www.jadesignercollections.com
Jewels By Durrani—The gorgeous reps of this jewelry company showed us the neck pendant (which Alice described as “delicate and modern”) that they designed specifically for the Secret Room guests. It’s a small gold rendition of a compass, with the directions etched in it, and on the card that’s displaying it, it states “the possibilities are endless,” which is a message I whole-heartedly agree with. Alice declared it to be a “fun statement piece.” www.jewelsbydurrani.com
Luseta Beauty—Since both of us are already fans of this company’s hair care products, we were happy to be introduced to two new ones this time. As girls on the go, we’ve tried lots of dry shampoos over the years, but Alice was most impressed with the Potpourri fragrance of this one. And just that morning, I wondered what a good oil for my new “beachy” (meaning “not brushed”) hairstyle should be, and then voila—here’s Luseta’s coconut oil, in a beautiful blue bottle, no less!!! www.lusetabeauty.com
Caravana Jewelry—Alice described these very hip silk wrap-bracelets as “boho with a western vibe” and “very cool.” They come in sooo many color combos, with several types of “etched buckles” that you latch the ends on to. I have no idea how the guests each chose just one! I coveted every bracelet on display!!! www.caravana-collection.com
Modus Nutrition—Good thing this nutritional supplement company was on-site serving energy smoothies right as we entered; that gave us the stamina to visit all the sponsors, I’m sure! They also gifted their products Power On, for focus and alertness, and Power Off, to help us calm down that night and get some rest after that wonderful event! www.modusnutrition.com
Nava Natural Skincare—The owner of this skincare line demonstrated her facial peel on Alice’s dry hands, and we were amazed at the ease with which it sloughed off the dead skin! Alice said it went on “smooth and silky, with no granules,” and that it “immediately” made her skin “glow.” Now we both want to try it on our faces! www.navanaturalskincare.com
Two Peas Inc.—The pleasant owner of this catering service was smart to have her nephew and his gorgeous hazel eyes on-site, helping her hand-out gift certificates to the guests, along with a couple of their divine cookies! Yu-um! The company designs menus specifically for each client’s needs. My need is to just have her nephew do the delivering! (You know I’m just joking around. But I do hope the food is as delish as these two are nice.) www.twopeasinc.com
Beaver Professional Hair Products—This line of organic and ph-balanced shampoos and body washes was gifting a box full of items for the whole fam, including the men and babies! As Alice observed, “Now you don’t have to argue over toiletries in the shower!” www.beaver-professional.com
Tweaker Energy Drinks—This company designed their performance shot beverages to cost much less than the ones that have been on the market for awhile, so I’m sure everyone will love that. And they come in a variety of fun fruit flavors. www.tweakershot.com
Artistic Nail Design—Even better than the bottles of neon-colored nails polishes (which Alice said come in “the newest vibrant colors”) that this company was gifting was receiving a mani right on-site from lovely Sheila Haile, who Alice told me “did such a fabulous job!” After that much-appreciated service, we were ready to shake hands with everyone there, to show off our pretty new nails. www.artisticnaildesign.com
Temp Traq—This is a temperature patch that you attach to your baby, and then track it from your phone all day. So there’s no need to disturb the sleeping infant. Alice called it “genius!” www.temptraq.com
Good Souls—The rep from this charity out of Toronto was there sharing stories of the cancer survivors who inspired each tee-shirt in their line. Alice said, “That’s spreading the good word!” www.goodsoulsclothingcompany.com
Whimzey—This southern on-line boutique was gifting each guest a choice of two of their most popular tee-shirts. I want to know how many Hollywood types chose the one that says “Pothead!” (It features a picture of a teapot, so maybe that’s the real meaning of that declaration.) www.lovewhimzey.com
As the VIP guests left Secret Room Events’ Style Lounge, they were handed a gigantic bag from LL Bean, which was filled to the brim with even more fabu gifts! Here are just some of the highlights of those:
Lee Jeans, which are my new fave casual wear; Christy Bruski’s Royce flat-iron, in fun purple!!!; a cute, comfortable bra from Lottie Belle Lingerie; Coco’s Bangles‘ adorable pink studded—what else?–bangle bracelet!; a classy multi-use copper tray from Paradigm Trends; a sweet little “warrior bracelet” from Kaura Jewels Los Angeles; a “Discovery Box” from Field To Cup, the contents of which are all you need to become a tea expert yourself (as I already am—no lie); Visha Advanced Bright Eye Booster, which I’m sure everyone who received it is praying works!; classy-yet-hip earrings (one with a small cuff attached) from Groundwork by Sara Hart; Wiley Wallaby Gourmet Liquorice (which has nothing to do with “liquor”—it’s just how Aussies spell “licorice!”); sexy white fishnets from my favorite hosiery brand, HUE; and the most different gift I’ve ever seen–Twinkles dental jewelry!
