RED CARPET EVENTS LA STYLE LOUNGE GIFTING SUITE IN HONOR OF THE TEEN CHOICE AWARDS
I hadn’t accepted any invitations to fun events in L.A. since I had to rush home from New York a month ago because of my numb hands. But I was still feeling bad that I had given up going to the Red Carpet Events LA Grammys Suite way back in February, so I was determined not to miss their one for the Teen Choice Awards last week. I just willed myself to go, and I’m glad I did.
This one was held on the garden terrace of the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect for it. It was very mellow and enjoyable.
Their charity this time was the African Millennium Foundation which “seeks to target poverty, hunger, and disease at its very root by providing African women and children with the necessary tools for achieving self-sufficiency.” Who wouldn’t be on board for that?
As always, I was there to discover fun new products to tell you about, so here are the highlights:
Ikonic Style Tools–This display of hairstyling tools literally made my mouth water! And they pointed out to me that the flat iron surfaces are made entirely of ceramic rather than just coated by the substance. My waist-length hair can’t wait to try one out. www.ikonicstyle.com
TCEC Design Clothing–This was the most popular sponsor is there! They had women’s attire in many categories, (dresses, sweaters, tops, etc.) and they told each guest to pick two items. I have a feeling that the very skinny teen guests fared the best, but everybody went away happy. www.shoptcec.com
Flips Audio—These headphones are really cool; you can flip them from being over your ears, where you’re the only person who can hear the music, to facing outward so you can share with your pals. Very clever; they go from being an introverted experience to a party saver in a nano-second. www.flipsaudio.com
Kashmir Keratin Hair System–This is a new entry into the haircare world, that’s touted to “restore and restructure over-processed, dry and damaged hair.” I can’t tell you how many people I sit behind in audiences who could benefit from this system! I sure hope they’re reading this right now, and know what to do with the information. www.kashmirkeratin.com
Bear Bottom Candles–These may just be the most beautiful candles I’ve ever seen! They’re almost too gorgeous to burn. But I got hungry looking at them because the ones that are fashioned to look like food are just mouthwatering. www.bearbottomcandles.com
Nuwati Herbals—Their Healer Tea really works! When you feel a cold coming on, I suggest drinking a cup. Or, seriously, you can just take a whiff of it and you feel better right away. Hmm, I wonder if it would help my poor numb hands. Maybe I should soak them in the tea. It might be worth a try. www.nuwatiherbals.com
Good Girl Tanks & Tees—These are black or white tank tops and T-shirts that feature one simple clever line on the front. None of the four sayings they were featuring that day pertained to me, but I’d be more than happy to be rocking the one that says “celebrate me.” www.goodgirltees.com
Swyt Culture–These really cute new shoes are billed as the “modern ballerina flat,” so basically they’re, in order: one thing I am, one thing I used to be, and one thing I’m definitely not! Or, just fabulous, hip, slipper-like shoes. www.flipsaudio.com
Computer Apparel–OMG! The gifts from this sponsor were fabulous! I really never saw anything like them anywhere else. They were gifting iPad and laptop covers that look like T-shirts and hoodies! What a fun thing to carry around. I can’t wait! www.computer-apparel.com
Clean Start by Dermalogica– When I saw the pretty packaging on this skincare line for young people with acne, I was so glad I still have friends young enough to be in that situation! The products are attractive enough on the outside to feature proudly with the rest of your toiletries, making it more likely that you’ll stick to this beauty regimen, giving your skin the best chance for good results. www.cleanstart.dermalogica.com
Optari–I’d venture to guess that this was the favorite sponsor of the teens in attendance. Or maybe I’m just projecting my own feelings. You all know that I think I’m still seventeen. And act like it, too! It’s all products that feature colorful, rubbery spikes; there are bracelets, earrings, pens, even mini journals. It was hard to choose from among them. www.optari.com
Okay, that’s it. I have to go rest my poor numb hands so I can make it to all the Emmy suites in September. You know I need all of my strength for those!
