GBK MTV MOVIE AWARDS LUXURY GIFT LOUNGE

[Note: each MTV Movie Awards Suite gets its own column, in the order that I visited them, because I don’t want you to miss even one item I’m telling you about. So, please make sure to check back several times (and look at the past few posts) to learn about all the fabulous-ness. This is the third of five.]

The Taco Man. All photos by Karen Salkin.

GBK’s suite returned to Beverly Hills’ lovely L’Ermitage Hotel, on the tented rooftop. The hotel catered some fun snacks, like sliders and cookies, while The Taco Man provided a tasty taco bar, which we all appreciated. www.thetacoman.com

This year’s charity is RED, a for-benefit brand created by Bono and Bobby Shriver to harness corporate and consumer power in the fight against AIDS in Africa, with an emphasis on women and children.

They were sponsoring a gaming room in another part of the hotel, but I was too busy checking-out all the fabulous gifts to get down there. I’m sure all the guys did, though! www.joinred.com

So let’s get to those gift highlights right now:

Revitalash—this wonderful cosmetics company just keeps surprising us! It all began with their eyelash conditioner that lengthens and thickens eyelashes. Over the years, the collection has grown to include hair and brow conditioners, mascara and primer, eyeliner and highlighter. And now there’s a new addition to this beauty-enhancing family, which they introduced at this suite: FineLine Primer. And let’s face it, who doesn’t need that? www.revitalash.com

Lotus Premium Denim—these adorable girls, who were some of the most pleasant sponsors ever, were so happy to be gifting their comfortable, form-fitting yet stretchy, jeans to all the female guests. If we come out looking like the Lotus girls do in them, that’ll be a real bonus! (Speaking of bonuses, the girls also gave-out lovely healing and power bracelets, from their associate, Rimes with J.) www.lotuspremiumdenim.com

Plomo Shoes—as a shoe lover who’s been stuck wearing flats since I injured my back, I was thrilled to discover this company whose flats are as attractive as their heels! And since they’re sold in stores in both my hometowns of Los Angeles and Brooklyn, it looks like I’ll be all set for awhile. www.plomoshoes.com

The Artisan Group—so here’s a story: recently, (including that very day,) I’ve been wearing a crystal ring that garners many compliments. I try to always know my designers, but couldn’t figure this one out, and felt awful about it. Then, right there in the suite, I was walking over to the table housing the wares of The Artisan Group, (which includes jewelry, stationery, soaps, and headgear) and what do I spy right in front? My ring! I was so happy to discover the artist behind it–Dana D’Angelo of Teru Amaro. And receive yet another one in a different color. Yay! www.theartisangroup.org

Sprout Watches—I had seen these eco-friendly watches before, and was always attracted to them. Now that I had the chance to take a closer look, it was really hard to choose among their many fabulous designs. How can anyone own just one?! www.sprout watches.com

Cutie Pops Dolls—these dolls’ attire was mouth-watering to me; pink and turquoise checked dresses adorned with cupcake charms that you can pop on and off! Yum-my! www.jadatoysinc.com

Halfbreed Tees—for a brief moment, I thought this company was giving me one of their signature tees because I have Cher’s old face, and they were expecting me to sing one of her signature ditties for them, Half Breed. But the guys explained that they believe that everyone’s ethnicity is a mixture, and they just may be correct. Either way, the shirts come in good colors, so all peoples will be happy to be styling in them, no matter what mix of colors they themselves are. www.halfbreedclothingco.com

Ruby Roxanne Designs—these beautiful, colorful, hand-crafted leather cuffs are all designed by one woman! I seriously can’t imagine how she comes up with them all. www.rubyroxannedesigns.com

Impress Press-on Manicure—with my upcoming trip to New York, I was really happy to see these fun nail products here. The reason? I don’t have time for manicures and chipped nails there, and these press-on nails take no time, and can’t chip! As the name says, you simply press them on, and that’s it! There’s no drying time, and they last about a week. I can’t wait to use them! www.impressmanicure.com

Bratz Dolls—we got a sneak-peek at the new Bratzillas dolls, which are said to possess magical powers. To me, they all looked like they’re ready for Halloween, which is good because they won’t be available until August. (There was even a blue-eyed vixen with waist-length red hair and a mini-skirt–I hope Mr. X doesn’t use it as a voodoo doll of me!) As beautiful as they all are, even more special are the True Hope bald dolls, which are coming out this month, and are designed to lend support to children who are undergoing treatment for cancer or alopecia. You can’t help but applaud Bratz for that ground-breaking effort. And a portion of their sales will be donated to City of Hope. It’s a win-win. www.mgae.com

Emys Clothing—these colorful tees caught the eye upon entering the suite. And even better is that they’re made out of eco-friendly bamboo! www.emysclothing.com

DUB Garage Toy Blazerz—Mr. X was actually impressed with the crafting of the motorized toy car he saw from this company, which also features lights and sound. And he didn’t even see their new 007 line yet! www.toystate.com

Sabra Hummus—this was a clever gift: a few small travel packs of their famous hummus, accompanied by a couple of bags of chips, in easy-to-carry insulated containers! The perfect snack to eat between suites. www.sabra.com

Cubify—they had interesting gifts, such as iPhone cases and bracelets to house iPods, fashioned out of colorful plastic. www.cubify.com
