GBK’S AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS GIFTING LOUNGE 2017

GBK once again came up with a unique location for their gifting lounge to celebrate the American Music Awards—an upscale Beverly Hills bed store!!! I loved this place; the lay-out made it so easy to walk around in, and visit every sponsor, without leaving anyone out by accident. (Except that the location is on the same block as my former ICM agents’ old office, so walking past the edifice sort-of gave me PTSD flashbacks to my early career! If you haven’t yet seen my Casting Couch video, just click here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYKn2_EWaJM.)

Here are the highlights of the sponsors I spoke with:

Custom Comfort Mattress—This is the sponsor whose beautiful showroom the gifting lounge took place in. I wish I had known about this place before—Mr. X and I just spent over two years seeking-out the perfect bed, including having an incident at Bloomingdales where the plastic stitching on an uber-expensive mattress cut my hand! (Not fun.) But if the major set-up we finally chose doesn’t work out, I know where we’ll be headed next time. Since they obviously could not gift beds to everyone, they handed out gift cards for luxury linens. www.customcomfortmattress.com

Erik the Artist—This guy’s colorful artwork was the hit of the day! In addition to showcasing his original art, he gifted posters and tee-shirts featuring his paintings of iconic celebrities, like the gorgeous one of Bob Marley that we all went nuts over! www.eriktheartist.com

B.U.M. Equipment—This old-school athletic wear company was gifting their signature tee-shirts to announce their comeback (from the 80’s,) even though I never even knew they went away! www.bumequipment.com

Sugar and Spyked—The guests could not get enough of lovely Tamara Anderson’s alcohol-infused desserts. She knew that I would be in attendance, so she had some non-alcoholic ones ready for me, like her incredible brownies. I could have eaten every single one on her table, and still begged for more! www.sugarandspyked.com

Wear Your Music—As a major bracelet aficionado, I’m always thrilled to discover new ones. And these are so innovative; they’re made out of guitar strings. I wonder if wearing one will help me finally conquer that instrument! www.wearyourmusic.com

FHI Heat—As a very vain hair girl, I’m always interested in anything that can benefit my super-long tresses. I already own lots of products from this famous company, and usually wear my hair as straight as I can get it. But when I noticed that they were gifting their thermal styling brushes from their Stylus brand, I made a vow to learn how to make waves. Only in hair, of course, never in life! www.fhibrands.com

Bopulent—I always love seeing B, the guy whose jewelry this is. He’s as adorable as his bracelets, many of which I already own. (And wear every day, I might add!)

Good Greek Grill—This mobile Greek food company was on-site, grilling-up gyros for the appreciative crowd. And let me tell you, the chicken one I had was indeed yummy! www.goodgreekgrill.com

3D Cheeze Photo Booth—The reps at this fun photo booth could not have been more pleasant. They even put up with my acting like a blonde because I didn’t understand that we had to take two photos in a row to make the image move on the magnet or luggage tag they put our faces on! Oysh. Once I got the hang of it, though, I loved that the theme on all of them is Happy Holidays! www.3dcheeze.com

It's not that Karen's vain--you just need to see both pix of her to see that they move! Photo by Karen Salkin.

As usual, this GBK Gifting Lounge benefitted multiple charities. Those fortunate ones this time were:

SBP USA—This organization’s mission is to shrink the “time between disaster and recovery,” which is something this country can use right about now. www.sbpusa.org

Route 91Strong—This organization is new, because it was created in the aftermath of the Las Vegas shooting. Their purpose is to provide financial resources and support to victims and families of this and other recent tragedies in our country. It’s so sad that we need them, but great to know that they’re there when we do! www.route91strong.org
