MAY EVENTS

Here’s a quick run-down of some of the events of this past month that I didn’t get to tell you about heretofore:

ALEX MAINE BOUTIQUE OPENING–the opening party of the Alex Maine boutique on Sunset was a real American celebration. They sell only American-made clothing, and the food was provided by a Fatburger truck parked out in the back. The imbibers were impressed with the Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine, which was poured out of a tap inserted into the jars it comes in.

SPAPHILE POST-TAX PARTY–for this one, we returned to Pink Taco, in the Century City Mall, where spaphile.com held their kick-off party in December. (I never realized, until it was pointed out to me by the most senior, classiest woman there, what the term “pink taco” meant! She asked me how they could get away with using that name, and all of a sudden in dawned on me. More power to them!)

The mini spa services we once again performed all around the patio of the eatery, and the weather contributed to the sunny atmosphere. Margie of Carlton Salon flat-ironed my hair so that it wouldn’t get frizzy during the clubbing ahead of me that night, Aveda personnel did mini-massages, and Pink Taco itself provided the chips, salsa, and guacamole. All participants left with excellent goodie bags, and an eye towards Spaphile’s next event.

CHARMAINE CARIBBEAN CUISINE–this was interesting; it was a party to introduce this new Caribbean caterer, but was held in a Beverly Hills liquor store! The colorful, well-stocked shelves were an interesting backdrop, I must say.

But the star of the evening was Charmaine Blake’s cooking. I couldn’t stop eating it! There was rice and beans, a pulled chicken dish, a beef one, plantains, and rolls. She can cater my parties anytime.
