CELEB SIGHTINGS 16

After a juicy February for celebrity sightings, I had a feeling that March would be light. I turned-out to be correct, but at least it started off semi-juicy. But my first ones of April, at the Billy Elliot opening at the Pantages, (listed last below,) were great!

TV host Peter Marshall and his traveling companion, after the long flight from Burbank to New York.

3/1/12 On my Jet Blue flight from Burbank to New York, (which was my first one on that airline!,) also sitting in the extra legroom seats, (there are no real “classes” on it; no real food, either, but that’s another story,) was my old co-host on the now-defunct Panda Shopping Network, Peter Marshall, directly across the aisle from me. And Crossing Jordan‘s Jill Henessey was right behind me, thus making the flight almost as star-studded as New Year’s Eve, the the crappy film I was watching on it!

3/14/12 This night was a double-dip for those of you who are rockers from way back. While at the still-going-strong-after-fifty-years Bitter End in New York’s Greenwich Village, to see former Mountain drummer Corky Laing and his new-ish band, the emcee for the evening pointed-out John Lennon’s old paramour, May Pang, in the audience. She was cute, in a grown-up sort of way, but to look at her now, you would never know that she had a two-year-long affair with one of the world’s most famous men! Lesson: enjoy it while you can, young ladies!!!

3/15/12 Adrien Brody speaking after the New York screening of his new film, Detachment. I was shocked to discover that he was kind-of boring, except when speaking about his dad, during which he came to life. Not helping the situation was the absolutely deathly moderator, David Fears of Time Out New York, who just about put the audience to sleep. At the end, Adrien even said, “How about some real questions from some real people?”!!! You tell ‘em, boyfriend!

3/21/12 This one was really fun. While eating at chocolate emporium Max Brenner, near New York’s famous Union Square, I was looking at everyone else’s food because each presentation was so interesting. While perusing the table next to, and beneath me, I noticed a cute guy rocking the same glasses that I was! It turned out to be Robert Buckley, who plays Clay on the recently-ended One Tree Hill. (He introduced himself to a dining mate who came late, as “Bob.”) He seemed very amiable, but the girl he was with seemed very attitudinal about people checking-out her food. Or was it her beau?! I just hope she wasn’t his wife, but rather someone he can easily lose.

3/24/12 Old school TV host Joan Lunden in the Greenwich Connecticut Sephora. Thanks, Sheila, for the good spot!!! I never would have noticed her. Of course, I had eyes for only the cosmetics.

3/30/12 Glee football coach portrayer, Dot-Marie Jones, at the GBK Kids Choice Awards Suite. The event was heavy with kids who are in show business, but that’s not my area of expertise, so Dot-Marie is the only celeb I recognized the day I was there.

Carrie Anne Inaba with Chelsie Hightower.

4/12/12 The opening night of the broadway musical, Billy Elliot, at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood brought out a Who’s Who in the Los Angeles dance scene. On the way in, we spotted Dancing With The Stars judges Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Anne Inaba, (who has a giant head in person, by the way. I had never noticed it before.) Then, sitting just a few rows behind us were some of that show’s pro dancers: Anna Trebunskaya, (who Mr. X said has the most gorgeous skin,) with Louis Van Amstel, and Chelsie Hightower with a woman who had to be her mother.

I missed my opportunity to commend her mom on the way she brought Chelsie up. Just two nights before, I pointed out to Mr. X that she’s the only one who says “thank you” to every comment the judges make, even if it’s to her partner, or negative. It’s so sweet of her.

Just by happenstance, (and many slow exiters,) we walked out with that gang, so there’s lots more to tell you about. I’ll do it in my full review of the show, which is due up this Tuesday, so please make sure to check back for it.
