SECRET ROOM EVENTS’ MTV MOVIE AWARDS STYLE LOUNGE 2015

[At this time last year, I had to miss all the MTV Movie Awards fun because I was busy finishing-up cleaning-out my childhood home in New York. It was a depressing, horrible task, made worse by knowing I was missing out on the fabulous gifting suites in LA! So, this year, I’m thrilled to be in sunny Los Angeles, and celebrating the awards. I made it out to three fabulous suites, with my contributing writer, Alice. Please make sure to not miss any of the fun we’re telling you about! This is the second of three.]

Secret Room Events returned to one of its (and my!,) favorite venues—the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. As always, it was chock full of great gifts, many of which I’ve never seen anyplace before! So let’s get right to the highlights, of which there are oh so many!:

Total Dreamz—If you go to their website, you’ll understand why I jumped out of my skin, (in a great way,) when I laid eyes on these beautiful nightlights!!! I know they’re designed for children, but have you met me?! They come in many different peaceful images, (like butterfly, bear, and heart,) and you can choose from among a dozen colors to leave it on, or do what I would do—make it the rainbow option! OMG! And it has a cool remote, too. If you have small children, or friends like me, you have got to check them out! www.totaldreamz.com

Cheero—They were gifting a choice of extra-powerful power cubes for smartphones and tablets, which I’m sure all the tech-savvy guests appreciated. I know I’ll definitely need one on my many suites visits, where my phone always dies so quickly from taking so many pix. And notes! (Like this one!)  www.cheero.net/usa

Kuumba Made–This botanical body care is so wonderfully-scented, including ones that even asthmatic I can use! I love the coconut and vanilla choices, while the fun-monikered Water Goddess is Alice’s fave. They carry a lot of products, including an herbal healing salve, which Alice pointed-out helps with eczema and joint pain. www.kuumbamade.com

Wiley X Sunglasses—Alice said of these fashionable wrap-around sunglasses, that were originally made for the military, (so we know they’re built to last,) “You can tell they are quality; when you look through the lenses, you see such crisp and clear color! They are definitely a great find!” Myopic moi was thrilled to discover that, even with the special shape of the frames, they can accommodate prescription lenses! www.wileyx.com

Speck Products—This company, who specializes in very protective covers and cases for iPads and iPhones, had the absolute most attractive display I’ve ever seen at a gifting suite! They made their space into a cool turquoise and white den, complete with giant ottoman, and hat rack on which they hung their colorful gift bags! I just wanted to sit there all day. Alice was more impressed with the designs and colors of their cases, that she said “will definitely last, as well as be in style!” www.speckproducts.com

EMK Skin Care—This one is amusing to me. Recently, Mr. X asked me to write about a topic that I could not. So, he mentioned that I’m too busy writing about “rejuvenating oils,” which is far from the case. I didn’t even know what that is! And then I happened upon this upscale Beverly Hills company’s “Rejuvenating Anti-Wrinkle Treatment!” And, here I am—writing about it! Now I can’t wait to use it! www.emkbh.com

Jason Emer, MD—This very pleasant Beverly Hills plastic surgeon had a tech who was doing face contouring on the spot! So, of course, we had to try it. Alice gushed, “I definitely saw a difference in my jawline and neck right away.” And she noticed it about mine, too, which, of course, was much more important. To me, anyway! www.jasonemermd.com

The Underground Chic–You know all those plastic bottles we drink out of and (hopefully) recycle? Well, this company makes colorful purses, make-up bags, and even large handbags out of them! www.theundergroundchic.com

Karen’s Product—Every single female at this skincare company has beautiful skin! So, I totally trust them to figure out what we each need. I love that they have so many specific products, such as anti-aging, cleansing, and, as Alice said, “Even a B-tox serum, for those of us who don’t want to go under the needle!” If we wind-up looking as beautiful as the other Karen, and company, we’ll be thrilled! www.karensproduct.com

Half Breed Clothing—Alice became a fan of this multi-cultural-inspired line, which was gifting tees, tanks, and skull caps. She deemed it, “Really cool stuff!” www.halfbreedclothingco.com

Anje– A fashionista herself, Alice said this clothing line, that’s proudly made in New York, (just as I was!,) is “made from the finest fabrics, with a sexy, sophisticated, clean look. The ones we saw will look great from day to evening. It’s a wonderful line to have key pieces from!” And I plan to! www.anjeclothing.co

Right Life Project–This life coach was gifting his guide and guidance! The latter is in the form a gift certificate for a two-hour session. I have a feeling that many of the guests that day can use much longer ones, living here in “is that why I’m so neurotic” Los Angeles! www.rightlifeproject.com

Beauty For Moi—This company was doing skin analysis right on the spot, so they’d know which products from their Ioma-Paris line to choose for each guest. Alice was so excited about their eye make-up remover, that I have to let her tell you about it: “ Walking into the Secret Room Event, I was literally talking to Karen about how to find something to help my lashes grow. And, voila! We discovered this two-in-one product that’s an eye make-up remover with lash growing serum right in it! Genius!” www.beautyformoi.com

Joey New York—This skincare line, (with the cutest graphics ever!,) was gifting their new This N That multi-use beauty fix. It’s designed to help with over a dozen skin situations, including shrinking pores, visibly improving bumps, and exfoliating dry patches. Now all roommates can share the one bottle! www.joeynewyork.com

Barb-A-Mel Books—These adorable children’s books have slots to put your own photos into, making them truly personalized. They reminded me of something that I once did that made my mother and me always laugh; I gave her a necklace that you put your own six pictures into, to show the family, I guess. My mother loved showing people that I entered—guess what?—five pictures of me, and to show that I’m a sport, one of Mr. X. My siblings were thrilled. To make sure that no one does that with her books, Barb Lawson-Miller made them all separate—one each for Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, and Grandpa. Good for not only me, but children of divorce, too! www.barbamelbooks.com

Cellusana—Alice deemed this skin care company’s Revitalizing Serum to be “revolutionary.” She said their day cream, that’s delivered in ampules, “brings back hydration, and protects from the environment,” while their night cream “supports collagen production, and creates firmness.” I was just attracted to their crisp blue and white packaging. www.celusanausa.com

Effi Foods—Just when we were getting too hungry to continue meeting sponsors, we came upon these Probiotic Carebar bars.  One of the benefits of them is that they curb hunger, so we were all set after that! www.effifoods.com

Y.O.U.–New York matchmaker Matt Titus has created three fragrances that he says were inspired by his clients. Alice said the trio is a “wonderful combination of scents!” www.matttitus.com

Le Jolie Medi Spa—This Studio City spa was gifting a choice of chocolate soufflé body cream, cupcake-shaped bath salts, and pretty-smelling candles. What a fun array. www.lejoliespa.com

Tick Key—Alice said, “Just when I thought everything was invented, I see this! It’s the easiest tool for removing those dreaded ticks from dogs and horses…and even humans!” I wish I had owned one when my precious Clarence, the tick magnet, (get it?–like “chick magnet?”,) was on this level of life! www.tickkey.com

The charity this time was Rock it 4 Reef. A lovely woman found-out about Reef Carneson, a six-year-old boy from South Africa, who has leukemia. His parents moved the family to Los Angeles, seeking life-saving treatment for Reef, and Secret Room is valiantly trying to help. www.facebook.com/RockIt4Reef

As usual, VIPs left the Secret Room Events Style Lounge with a huge goodie bag, this time a special one provided by LL Bean! Some of the highlights of those contents were:

Elysee Scientific cosmetics eye cream; Brooks Candy Co. salted caramels; Just Skin Food; a substantial hoodie from Sinner Threads; adorable children’s pants from The Mini Classy; Nooloos‘ “design your own” glasses frames for kids (and me!); Java Skin Care; Green Tidings All Natural Deodorant; Gluvleez to protect your hands during gel manicures; Pedisavers pedicure sox, Ranch Organics scented soap; candles from Volcano; and my two faves—Ferrum‘s professional hair styler, that’s so much more than just a flat-iron, and Thera Cane‘s portable deep-pressure massaging tool, that you can use on yourself! Whew! And have I mentioned–whew?!
