SECRET ROOM BEAUTY BAR AND LUXURY LOUNGE FOR THE OSCARS 2015

[Note: I made it to six pre-Oscars Gifting Suites this year. As always, each one gets its own write-up. This is the third of them, so please make sure to check back every day this week, and to look at the previous two columns, to learn about all the fabulous-ness. Alice was my Contributing Writer on this one.]

In addition to the gifting, Secret Room helped us get glam this year by providing several beauty services, including hair, nails, make-up touch-ups, and chair massages, which were all very appreciated by the guests.

Their suite for the Oscars was held at perhaps my favorite venue for these celebrations—the W Hotel in Westwood. The clear-tented patio area, where half of the event took place, has the most perfect lighting for beauty services!

Here are the two that Alice and I made time to receive:

Toni & Guy—We already knew some of the stylish personnel at this hair styling academy, so it was great to see them again, and have them style our twenty pounds of hair between us! (It took two people on each of our heads to get the jobs done!) Jackie and Peter gave Alice curls, while Faith and Lindsay flat-ironed my ‘do. (I love having a pal whose hair desires are opposite to mine!) And while I’m at it, I really want to thank Sarah Flores at the Santa Monica Academy for recently giving me the best color my tresses have ever had! www.toniguy.com

Bella by Design—Beautiful, lovely, patient Cecy Alcala did our chair massages, which we both needed! Alice was in pain from doing all the manual labor on our suites visits, and mine was from just living it all! www.bellabydesignstudio.com

After getting beautiful and relaxed, we were ready to go around and meet all the fun sponsors. Here are the highlights of the gifts the guests received:

Revitalash Cosmetics—I was happy to see one of my favorite companies back at a suite. Alice was not familiar with this line of lash, brow, and hair conditioning products, so she loved learning about them. Her favorite was The Hi-Def Tinted Brow Gel, of which she marveled, “It’s really fabulous. It tints and sets with a brush & comb all in one application.” www.revitalash.com

Alphabet Kids—There can be nothing more simple and helpful for kids nowadays than what this series of books is all about. Here’s the lowdown, straight from their website: “The Alphabet Kids books follow the fun adventures of a group of diverse children who learn about their multicultural backgrounds.” I say amen to that idea! www.alphabetkids.com

No Mo O—I love the name of this odor and stain eliminator! And it’s not for just pet accidents, if you get my drift! I especially laud this company for dressing up the bottles, in clear wrap with festive ribbons, at the suite. That was a really nice touch! (Their web site is adorable, too.) www.No-Mo-O.com

Life Portraits–This is the second time that we girls were lucky enough to have caring Canadian, Gloria Bieber, read our auras. Alice said, it was “such an amazing experience; it definitely gave me a great insight into self-realization.” Shallow I was trying to hear the wonderful things Gloria was telling me about how creative I am, but I just couldn’t take my eyes off how, shall we say “chubby,” I was in my aura picture! So, maybe this reading will even help with weight loss because I’m going to put it front and center on my fridge! www.lifeportraits.ca

Calorease—These supplements are designed to bind with fat from food to help you lose weight. That doesn’t mean you dieters should eat more, though! After seeing that pic of my newly-chubby body that I mentioned in the last paragraph, I can’t wait to try these out! www.calorease.com

G-Vibe—This company was gifting Geisha Balls, which if you’re a kid reading this, avert your eyes now. Alice and I are definitely not the ones to tell you about these; I guess you’d call them “female sex organ exercisers.” (I told you this is not my area of expertise. I’ve always had a boyfriend!) But I’m sure many of the guests were happy to receive them. And they come in pretty colors, which is where my knowledge ends. www.gvibe.com

Nuwati Herbals–This is another product that was new to Alice, and she said “This company’s Healer Tea is great for your immune system! It helps with everything from allergies to headaches. It does it all!” www.nuwatiherbals.com

Ancestry.com–Just when I was writing about this company that helps you find your ancestry, (hence the name—duh!,) a commercial about it came on TV! It sounds so interesting, but, judging by my relatives whom I already know, I think I’d be afraid to find the rest of them! www.ancestry.com

Fiber Choice—This rightly-colored display featured cute little country bags containing bottles of their two newest probiotic supplements. There was one for immunity support, and the other was to boost metabolism & energy.  And Alice liked that they’re in gummy form! www.fiberchoice.com

Gutsy Products—As someone who has suffered with stomach issues (internal ones, not the chubby ones I keep mentioning!,) for a long time now, I really appreciated learning about this company’s Gutsy Chewys. They contain all-natural ingredients to help with several types of gut issues (excepting erroneous gut instincts, of course!) www.gutsyproducts.com

True You Soulva Mist—This energy-cleansing spray mists away stress and negativity. You can use it on yourself, or in your proximity zone. I have one in my house, and I spray it all over, just in case. Why take chances when your peace might be a spray away?! www.trueyoumist.com

VIP guests left with one of Secret Room’s signature jam-packed goodie bags. One of the highlights was most definitely the petite, boxed JudiCakes. I shared my chocolate chunk one with Alice, who said, “These little cream cheese pound cakes are packed with flavor; so delectable!” www.judicakes.co

Each over-flowing bag is unique, but here are just a few of the rest of the products that can be found in them: Uzurii gorgeous jeweled flip-flops, Taymor bathtub trays, OPI, Estevia Parfum, Mack and Jane Jewelry cuffs, Murad eye cream, classy Good Earth beverage mugs from India, and 2UNDR (the softest men’s underwear I’ve ever felt; from now on, I just may ask him to keep his underwear on!)

This Secret Room event benefited OMICS Live!, who provided us with delicious snacks along the way. It’s an organization that helps high school-ers learn about future career possibilities. www.fashionomicslive.com
