GRAMMYS RED CARPET MUSINGS<\/h1>\n

This actually appeared to be the classiest group of Grammys attendees ever. Most of them were well-dressed and well-spoken. But that didn\u2019t deter me from making my (often negative) observations. Let\u2019s get right to it.<\/p>\n

\"23589716975940-31173500\"Every female needed lip color. Even though I usually go with nude lips myself, it\u2019s not on-camera, with the world watching! And right now, there\u2019s no particular trend in lips–it\u2019s whatever looks good. So could they spare at least some shine, stain, or gloss? I\u2019ve rarely seen anyone need lipstick more than Miley Cyrus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/span>Kara DioGuardi <\/strong>is so hunched-over! Thank goodness she\u2019s not a judge on a models<\/em> show!<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking of bad posture, the new trend in men\u2019s suits of wearing them too-tight makes them all look like little old men. (Except for the fabulous Maxwell<\/strong>, who rocks that look.)<\/span><\/p>\n
\"52ndannualgrammyawardspretelecastshowdwk6oamk3etl\"Speaking of Maxwell, I couldn\u2019t be happier for him. He\u2019s so talented and deserving, especially after taking almost a decade off between albums. And he appears so humble and appreciative.<\/div>\n

I loved Common <\/strong>on the carpet, especially with the Zac Posen Band<\/strong>. He seems so genial; so what\u2019s he doing with creepy, holier-than-thou Serena Williams as his girlfriend? (Maybe he named himself for her behavior.)<\/p>\n

Ricky Martin <\/strong>is still the loveliest. He\u2019s the only person who ever made me understand parenthood. He\u2019s adorable. And, how big are his hands?<\/span><\/div>\n

Also lovely-seeming: Lady Antebellum.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"23638133607020-31162725\"This was the best\u00a0Lea Michele<\/strong>\u00a0ever looked! She seemed nice and appreciative, too.<\/span><\/p>\n

Good for the Linkin Park <\/strong>spokes-guy for calling-out full-of-herself Carrie Anne Inaba <\/strong>about not knowing which song they were nominated for! Then she made the whole thing, as she did with almost every interview, about her<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s just air all my complaints about Carrie Anne right now and get it over with. (Well, somewhat, anyway.) She\u2019s rude and talks non-stop over EVERYONE!; her co-host, celebs, their guests–everyone! And she makes her interviews about her<\/em> all the time, [unlike my site, which states upfront that Its Not About Me(.TV).<\/em>] As much as all red carpet interviewers are self-aggrandizing, she\u2019s the worst.<\/p>\n

As awful as she <\/em>was, her co-host, Chris Harrison<\/strong>, asked the single rudest question I\u2019ve ever heard on any red carpet; this was his question to Russell Brand<\/strong>, on his recent engagement to Katy Perry<\/strong>, verbatim: \u201cI mean honestly, is it gonna happen? I mean, do you really think you\u2019re going to make it all the way to the altar?\u201d Even the weirdo, rude-himself Russell was taken aback by that one!<\/p>\n

\"23973147718120-31164639\"I can\u2019t believe I\u2019m saying this, but I loved Alice Cooper<\/strong>!!! (And not because we look alike, if you squint.) He and his wife of 34 years appeared to make a great couple.<\/p>\n

What an adorable kid Justin Bieber <\/strong>is! He\u2019s intelligent and thoughtful and even told Ryan Seacrest<\/strong>, \u201cYou look nice.\u201d There must be some really proud parents behind him. (The only two guys I\u2019ve ever wanted for family members before are Adam Lambert and my beloved RI pal, Ronnie Hazel, Jr. I think I may have to add Justin to that list.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019m always happy to see LL Cool J <\/strong>since I met him last year. (Check it out in my Celeb Sightings section<\/strong>.) He\u2019s exactly as nice in person as he appears on TV.<\/p>\n

Jason Mraz<\/strong> also seems like a nice guy, who cares about the world.<\/div>\n

\"23892503252860-31182150\"Winner once again, for most gorgeous person there is Simon Baker<\/strong>. Especially in these sexy glasses. Mmmmmmm.<\/p>\n

Steven Colbert <\/strong>is very funny. Nothing deep to say about him. (Except that I couldn\u2019t believe that they played off his acceptance speech on the telecast, when they had him open the show with his humor!)<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

And he saved the innocuous Carrie Anne Inaba\u2019s butt when she was interviewing him, and then basically pushed him aside for Justin Bieber. Steven made it not as uncomfortable as it could have been. And Justin just handled the whole scenario with his usual (unusual<\/em> for a kid) poise.<\/p>\n

Shockingly, Pink<\/strong> and her on-again husband seemed nice and normal!<\/p>\n

T-Pain<\/strong> is so eloquent! Not.<\/span><\/div>\n

What hope so there for the rest of us when Heidi Klum<\/strong> is starting to look like Anne Meara? (Check her out on her right side; I have back-up opinions on this one–it\u2019s not just my imagination.)<\/p>\n

Jennifer Hudson<\/strong>\u2019s <\/strong>strange pony-tail \u2019do made her head looked shaved, except for the bangs and tail.<\/span><\/div>\n

Carrie Underwood<\/strong> is way too skinny. And trust me, I\u2019m a fan of good skinny. But you can see her hand veins! Ugh. She\u2019s gorgeous and sings really well, and is one of the few who really looks like a star, but she really doesn\u2019t have too much to say, personality-wise.<\/div>\n

\"23530703387040-31170918\"Why does Mary J. Blige <\/strong>always look worried?<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve always loved Smokey Robinson<\/strong>, so I\u2019m sadly reporting this nonsensical comment from him: \u201cEarth is the only thing we have right now.\u201d It sounds like a line out of Star Trek<\/em>, not the Grammys red carpet.<\/p>\n

In addition to Taylor Swift<\/strong>\u2019s <\/strong>awful performance on the actual show (which I covered in yesterday\u2019s column,) she was dressed more for the Oscars than the Grammys. Her gown was too grown-up and classy for a music biz event. But I actually loved it.<\/p>\n

Nobody understood a word Fergie<\/strong> said. And her chest was sweating! Ugh.<\/p>\n

Ciara<\/strong> had the most horrible, confusing outfit.<\/span><\/div>\n

Kevin Jonas’<\/strong> new wife is cute, even with her ski-slope nose job.<\/span><\/div>\n

Ke$ha <\/strong>looked the worst. She had homeless hair, a bad outfit on a strange body, messed-up nails, and cheap-looking shoes. Why would her handlers let her show-up like that, when her career is just getting going? Wouldn\u2019t they at least try to make a better impression? The good news is that she has only up to go.<\/span><\/p>\n

As awful as she looked, the stupidest comment of the evening went to her interviewer on E! (The skinny, funny-looking woman who co-hosts with Ryan Seacrest; I just realized that I don\u2019t know her name.) Ke$ha admitted that in her leaner days, she would \u201cstop on the side of the road and dig through some clothes.\u201d The interviewer\u2019s idiotic follow-up remark was, \u201cWhat girl doesn\u2019t do that, right?\u201d How does this woman have a job?<\/p>\n

\"gagagrammys\"And last, but not least, Lady Gaga<\/strong>\u2019s <\/strong>second outfit (the one with a giant headdress featuring multiple-points,) was even worse than her first. And it was incredibly rude. Did she not know people would be sitting behind her? She\u2019s a narcissist of the highest order.<\/p>\n

Okay, that\u2019s it for now. But luckily for all of us, the Oscars are only a little over a month away. Yay!<\/p>\n
