So I started making a list, and it has just kept on growing. So, before it turns into a tome, I figured I\u2019d better share what I have already.<\/p>\n<p>Most of them need no extra explanations. And I\u2019d love to hear the ones that chap <em>your<\/em> hide, too! So please share them in the Comments below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE MODERN CLICH\u00c9S<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/images.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-63511\" src=\"https:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/images.jpeg\" alt=\"images\" width=\"194\" height=\"259\" \/><\/a>\u201cI didn\u2019t have <em>that<\/em> on my bingo card.\u201d (When was the last time anyone uttering that line has played bingo???)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmazing!\u201d (Most things are <em>not at all<\/em> amazing\u2014that word basically means \u201csomething so rare that it truly amazes us!\u201d It\u2019s definitely <em>not<\/em> for the number of things people feel the need to use it for.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe two best words in sports,\u201d said about every Game 7 in an important seven-game series. And the people who say it declare it as though there can be no dissension about that concept. But <em>I<\/em> can think of several much better two words in sports, such as \u201cYou won!,\u201d \u201cThe Champion!,\u201d and \u201cOlympic gold!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The winner will be \u201cwhoever wants it more.\u201d Trust me, <em>all<\/em> athletic vie-ers want it the most! (Unless it\u2019s <em>me<\/em>\u2014I always just wanted to look cute in my competition outfit. And I\u2019m not kidding about that, not even a little bit.) So no one wants it <em>more<\/em>; they all desire the win the same. (When a Seattle Mariner was being interviewed last week after losing Game 7 to get into the World Series, a teammate\u2019s very painful bloodcurdling scream could be heard in the background. No one wanted it \u201cmore\u201d than <em>that<\/em> guy, yet his team <em>lost<\/em>!)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrigger.\u201d Everything these days seems to \u201ctrigger\u201d someone about something! Enough already! They need to start stating what they <em>really<\/em> mean.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have to find \u2018my person.\u2019 \u201d Ugh. Just state what kind of person you\u2019re talking about!!! Is it a boyfriend or girlfriend? Or not even a love interest at all, as \u201cperson\u201d can be any kind of human. Maybe a house cleaner, (which is the kind of person <em>I\u2019d<\/em> love to find!)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/channels4_profile.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-63510\" src=\"https:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/channels4_profile-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"channels4_profile\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/channels4_profile-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/channels4_profile-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/channels4_profile.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\u201cColor me\u2026\u201d impressed, happy, surprised, whatever. I find it annoying, even though I adore <em>colors<\/em>!<\/p>\n<p>Such-and-such, (usually failure,) \u201cis not an option.\u201d Of course it is! It\u2019s a <em>major<\/em> one. And if it\u2019s used for an athletic competition, as it often is, there\u2019s usually a fifty-fifty chance of failure!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not gonna lie.\u201d Why <em>would<\/em> you? Do you think you have to let us know that? Really?!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHolding space for\u2026\u201d What does that even mean???<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s so random,\u201d when it\u2019s totally <em>not<\/em> random! How do <em>you<\/em> know what\u2019s going to happen to\/for the person to whom you\u2019re speaking???<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHidden gem.\u201d None of them are <em>hidden<\/em> and few are <em>gems<\/em>!!! For example, people on my local Next Door keep saying that a certain neighborhood eatery, Trattoria del Sole, is one. But it\u2019s far from<em> hidden<\/em>\u2014it\u2019s right out there on major Ventura Boulevard, and attached to a much-used alley! And the food sucks, so far from a <em>gem<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE TOTALLY INCORRECT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIrregardless,\u201d when they actually mean \u201cregardless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI could care less,\u201d when they actually mean \u201cI could <em>not<\/em> care less.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean\u2026,\u201d (to start sentences.) How did that one even <em>start<\/em>? The first time I heard it, from former tennis player Caroline Wozniacki, (back when she was playing,) I kept going back, trying to find her previous sentence that I assumed she was explaining what she meant by it. But, of course, there was none. She began her<em> only<\/em> statement with that idiotic, \u201cI mean\u2026\u201d Grrr.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGaslighting.\u201d As I explained in a play review this past June, to \u201cgaslight\u201d someone means to manipulate them into questioning their own reality. All of a sudden, many people have started using the term for a plethora of ways their significant other is mistreating them, none of which are actual \u201cgaslighting.\u201d I hate when not-too-bright peeps think they\u2019re being intelligent and\/or profound when they are far from either!<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE WORDS PEOPLE OFTEN MISPRONOUNCE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[Note: I hear a lot of dreadful mispronunciations on individuals, but these are a few I\u2019ve heard from <em>multiple<\/em> people. It just blows my mind that so many can be so wrong! They must have been absent on more than one day!]<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBought\u201d for \u201cbRought.\u201d This is the most egregious to me. They kept saying \u201clowkey,\u201d \u201cchopped,\u201d \u201cfire,\u201d \u201cpause,\u201d and \u201cgoated\u201d\u2014I actually had to look up that last one. So it appears that I&#8217;m not the <em>only<\/em> one who is annoyed by stupid words that everyone says now.
