This is a different kind of July Fourth column for me. I\u2019m not sure that I can celebrate this country in all good conscience this year. What Orange Hitler is doing to our homeland is literally criminal. Even I, a full-blown American-born, white, straight female, am scared all the time, but not just for myself, for absolutely everyone!<\/p>\n
It will be hard to barbecue, swim, shop, or party in general, when so many of our fellow countrymen are suffering tremendously.<\/p>\n
The purpose of this holiday is to celebrate America\u2019s independence from England. That means that our Founding Fathers were, indeed, immigrants. So the irony of the recent events of this<\/em> year should not be lost on any of us.<\/p>\n Even though the following paragraph looks like I composed it this week, I actually wrote it a decade ago, in 2015, in my review of the classic Arthur Miller play, A View From the Bridge<\/em>:<\/p>\n \u201c\u2026the topic, (of immigrants coming into this country illegally for a chance at a better life,) is relevant right now. It could be called The Donald Trump Story<\/em>\u2014the story of a classless douchebag who wants to deport immigrants, and ruin their lives. (I just hope that the real life saga we\u2019re living through right now has a better ending, with a sane woman<\/em> leading our triumph over evil.)\u201d<\/p>\n This is how most normal Americans are viewing our country these days.<\/p><\/div>\n Very sadly, the tragic situation has only gotten worse. My heart breaks for at least one good person every day. I don\u2019t enjoy going anywhere<\/em> anymore because, the second I see anyone with a less-than-Aryan visage, I\u2019m immediately scared for them.<\/p>\n As I was trying to find a good place to watch the July 4th fireworks tomorrow night, I kept seeing cancellations of the festivities, mainly in immigrant neighborhoods. People who usually love to celebrate their good fortune to be living and working in the U.S, (before it became freedom-challenged,) have to now hide in their homes to avoid being deported, most of them fraudulently, by men who are disguised from head to toe, and have zero identification. How could that situation not<\/em> make any normal human beings sick to their stomachs???<\/p>\n And then recently, during Orange Hitler\u2019s ridiculous celebration of the armed forces, (which he looked upon as his own birthday party!,) in his buffoonery he stated, \u201cWe\u2019re the hottest country in the world right now.\u201d What leader describes his nation as \u201chot,\u201d like they\u2019re talking about a trend or a celebrity??? Or, more likely in his<\/em> case, a young female? He continually makes me projectile vomit.<\/p>\n<\/a>
