I’ve driven by some of the houses that were all decked-out in 2019, to find…nothing there now. (Insert a sad face emoji in your mind right here.)<\/p>\n
My great friend Lyndsey was thoughtful enough to give me gorgeous Halloween fingernails recently, and I’ve been rocking them since October 15 to amuse the masses. But I’m sad (to myself) that I forgot to even\u00a0look<\/em>\u00a0for\u00a0all\u00a0my holiday attire<\/em> for the occasion. And trust me, I have a\u00a0lot\u00a0of it!<\/p>\n Karen Salkin’s fabulous Halloween nails. Photo by Mr. X.<\/p><\/div>\n My Halloween collection includes tee-shirts with cute designs and funny sayings, classier long-sleeved tops, sweatshirts, shorts, socks, gloves, hats, tons of jewelry, and the pi\u00e8ce de r\u00e9sistance\u2014a stunning, very expensive sweater from Aspen, which features brocade pumpkins and such. I was upset all the way to a daytime event this past week-end, (that I’ll tell you about later on in the week,) about forgetting to wear that particular outerwear, only to realize that no one there would have cared. It was three days before this actual holiday, on the day of the night of a bunch of costume parties, and not one other attendee had on even any orange and black!!!<\/p>\n The only people in Los Angeles who seem to care about Halloween at all<\/em> are the celebs who get to go to the de rigueur soirees thrown by other<\/em> celebs, where they’ll get tons of free publicity, (which many of them actually do<\/em> need right now,) just for dressing as someone else. I’ve seen pix from some of the recent festivities, and none of the costumes have been that<\/em> creative, actually. It’s been somewhat disappointing. Photo by Karen Salkiin.<\/p><\/div>\n Actually, we all<\/em> get a do-over\u00a0today. Yay! However, I predict that it will be mostly the trick-or-treating kiddies<\/em> who have gotten the costume memo. But every now and then, when I\u2019m out on Halloween, I spy a cool parent who gets in on the action, and that\u2019s the most fun.<\/p>\n When I’ve spent my Halloweens in New York, I’ve found that people there at least\u00a0try<\/em>\u00a0a bit on actual October 31st. But, sadly, most not enough. When I was last there in 2019, (because the pandemic cancelled all my planned trips since then,) four of my besties and I went to dinner at what my Big Apple-based friend deemed to be a \u201cfun place.\u201d I was happy that the restaurant’s personnel\u00a0did\u00a0<\/em>dress-up a bit, but only one of my pals and I wore actual costumes*, while two of the others just donned\u00a0hats<\/em>! The last guy didn’t even bother! *[Note: My friend with the glasses and I wore the same easy outfit\u2014which gives it a different meaning when it\u2019s multiple, as opposed to just one person wearing it\u2014 but it’s hard to tell on her in this pic. So I’ll give you a clue about\u00a0mine<\/em>, and if you think you’ve figured it out, please let us know in the Comments below. I doubt anyone will get it, though. The clue is this: That white thing on my chest is the letter P. Go for it!]<\/p>\n<\/a><\/a>
