<\/a>The biggest reason to celebrate this week! And for the next four years! (At least!)<\/p><\/div>\n
First up is the Inauguration<\/strong> of Joe Biden<\/strong> as our new President. And not a second too soon. Orange Hitler has grown increasingly deranged; his last few months reminded me of The<\/em> Madness of King George<\/em>. Only worse. Much, much worse. (You know it\u2019s bad when even Mitch McConnell has said that Trump \u201cprovoked\u201d the January 6th riot at the Capitol!)<\/p>\n Now this country will at least have a chance<\/em> of getting back to normal; of having our good global reputation restored and stop being the laughing stock of the world.\u00a0\u00a0And, most importantly, of course, we\u2019ll finally have a President who cares about keeping our citizens alive<\/em>! And will work to do so!!<\/p>\n This image says it all.<\/p><\/div>\n Even though all the talk show hosts and Facebook-ers will have tons less, politically, to comment about now, I can\u2019t wait to stop being upset and incredulous (at Orange Hitler\u2019s complete stupidity) on a daily basis. So, yay! (Now let\u2019s pray that all Americans will behave themselves today<\/em> especially, as well as going forward.)<\/p>\n This looks like a lovely, comforting hug, doesn’t it?<\/p><\/div>\n Then tomorrow, Thursday, will be National Hugging Day<\/strong>. I know that it\u2019s achingly sad that many of us can\u2019t celebrate it\u00a0in a big way this year, but\u00a0I beg you all to please refrain, unless it\u2019s to hug members of your own household with whom you\u2019ve been isolating for the past ten months! If you\u2019re not alone in your abode, (and pets do<\/em> count as companions, naturally,) then, by all means\u2014hug away! And often. And if you are<\/em> by yourself, this is where stuffed animals come in! I mean it. (Here\u2019s my take on that entire subject: itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/healthkarens-tips-the-health-and-soul-boosts-of-stuffed-animals<\/a>.)<\/p>\n Hugging is actually great for your immune system. (Consensual hugs only, of course.) When the pandemic is finally over, I suspect that many of us will not be able to stop<\/em> hugging each other at all times. So we may wind-up being healthier than before<\/em>\u00a0the virus took hold of the world! Wouldn\u2019t that<\/em> be lovely?<\/p>\n This is what we all need to do on Celebration of Life Day.<\/p><\/div>\n And we end the work week with\u00a0National Celebration of Life Day<\/strong> on Friday. I really don\u2019t know exactly how<\/em> to celebrate this one, other than to maybe sit and reflect on how lucky all of us are to be alive right now. Never has life been more appreciated by so many than it has this<\/em> year. We\u2019ve all seen the fragility of life way too often and way too up-close in the past twelve months or so.<\/p>\n Maybe you can celebrate it by doing some of the things you really love to do, but rarely make time for, (while in your homes, of course.) You can sing loudly, dance wildly, eat your favorite otherwise-a-no-no foods, binge-watch TV shows, (both old and new–I\u2019ll be watching all my old Perry Masons\u2014again<\/em>!,) stay in bed all day, go for a walk in your \u2018hoods, (masked-up and socially-distanced,) yak it up on the phone to your heart\u2019s content, or just maybe–(which I<\/em> would do if I still had mine)–play the Game of Life!<\/p>\n<\/a><\/a><\/a>
