HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021!<\/h1>\n

Happy 2021, everybody! I\u2019m cheered-up to know that it\u2019s a new year, with fresh possibilities. But you know that I have to be honest about expectations, even when that makes me a bit of a Debbie Downer.<\/p>\n

\"thumbnail_image0\"<\/a>I don\u2019t want to take hope away from anyone, because hope is often all we have, but please just realize that even though it\u2019s finally 2021, we still have an uber-difficult row to hoe currently and ahead of us. So please do not let up your diligence to help get rid of the virus and keep us all safe.<\/p>\n

2020 was unprecedented in most of our lifetimes. Who could have ever imagined we\u2019d go through, and still<\/em> be going through, something as heinous as the coronavirus? (Well, actually, the Obama administration did\u2014they handed-down the whole playbook to fight it, and then Orange Hitler and his cohorts threw it out. Great move. Not.)<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/a>January is usually the month I most look forward to all year. Not only do I get to celebrate my January 14th birthday in a big way, but there are always fabulous events right off the bat\u2014award shows, gifting suites, opening nights, you name it. But this<\/em> year, I have only sadness and apprehension right now. I\u2019m so worried about all<\/em> of us. We need to all hunker down right now and get rid of this virus. But that can be accomplished only if every single one of us<\/em> follows the rules. It doesn\u2019t help at all to see not only regular<\/em> idiots do the wrong things constantly, but the celebrities<\/em> who feel it\u2019s okay for them to jet here and there, and be with groups of pals outside their households. What is wrong with these people??? Did they all fail elementary school, where we\u2019re correctly taught that listening to the people in charge, and helping others, are of paramount importance???<\/p>\n

So let\u2019s hope that 2021 is a million times better than the previous year was! But, as I stated above, that can happen only if every single one of us does the right things\u2014wear masks, stay away from others, don\u2019t travel or gather (even for my January 14th birthday,) and stay the frig home<\/em>!!!<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/a>And for the many of us who still do<\/em> have some blessings to count, (which I truly hope is all of you reading this,) let\u2019s focus on doing that, to alleviate our collective depression, even a little bit.<\/p>\n

And here\u2019s some interesting news that might help us now–this is really the start of a new decade<\/em>, even though many unaware people thought it began in 2020. Here\u2019s the explanation of why 2021, rather than 2020, is\u00a0the beginning of a new decade: 1 through 10 is one decade, 11 through 20 is another decade, and 21 through 30 is another, and so on. So the end of\u00a0the previous<\/em> decade was December 31,\u00a02020, not<\/em> 2019. So good riddance to not just last year<\/em>, but the entire decade<\/em>!<\/p>\n
