MERRY CHRISTMAS 2020<\/h1>\n

How appropriate that this is my #2,111st column\u2014triple \u201c1\u201ds is always a number to make a wish on, and many people believe in Christmas wises, as well. So, you can make both<\/em> those wishes right here!<\/p>\n

And don\u2019t we all <\/em>need extra<\/em> wishes to come true right about now?<\/p>\n

I haven\u2019t had many cheery things to say about Christmas since 2011, when my mother went to heaven on that very holiday. (Even though I was trying to not mention it this year, because there\u2019s been way too much sadness in it already, I had to explain.) And this<\/em> year I have even fewer words of cheer to share because the condition of the world seems to get worse each day.<\/p>\n

So all we can do is hold on and hope that we all will be able to have major celebrations next<\/em> year.<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/a>I feel bad for mainly the children. In all likeliness, this won\u2019t be a good Christmas memory for them. I feel that parents should just explain that this year needs to be a different kind of celebration, and the interesting part of it all is that they are living in what will be a significant part of history, which they will appreciate when they\u2019re older.<\/p>\n

I just wish that a-hole rich celebs would make it different for their<\/em> kids, as well. It\u2019s hard to see people like the Kreepy Kenner-Kardashians sharing pictures of their opulent decorations and gifts when so many others are sick, in pain, losing jobs and homes, etc. It\u2019s disgusting of them to flaunt their wealth at all<\/em> times, but especially now.<\/p>\n

Oh wow\u2014I didn\u2019t mean to get dark and preachy here, but I guess the nature of this time in life is bringing it out in me, big-time. I think of these situations on a daily basis, so why should it be different on a holiday?<\/p>\n

This is the perfect year to teach your offspring, and perhaps yourselves, the value of simple family times, (such as just baking cookies or cooking dinner together, or playing family games on Christmas Day, with maybe little prizes instead of actual gifts,) and of giving to others. You can use the day to go through their toys and clothing, (yours, as well,) and maybe even unneeded pantry staples, to donate them. There\u2019s always someone in need, even in non<\/em>-pandemic times. But that need is so much greater this year. (Even with my perennially-broken back, I\u2019ve been going through my closets and donating to various organizations, and I feel like my soul is benefitting so much more than the recipients of my gorgeous suede boots!)<\/p>\n

So let me get right to my own humble Christmas wishes. My main one is for everyone, especially my fellow Californians, to please stay the frig home already!!! Not just on Christmas Day but every<\/em> day until we get this virus under control!!! Unless you\u2019re an essential or volunteer worker, you do not have to go anyplace except the store once a month and emergency doctor and dentists visits! There are no excuses right now to do anything else<\/em>!!! Staying in your abodes for even the next year is a small price to pay for your many years of life after that!<\/p>\n

And when you are outside your homes, I plead with you to wear masks, and properly<\/em>. They need to cover your mouth and nose<\/em>! Any other way is unacceptable and wrong.<\/p>\n

And, of course, stay at least six feet away from everyone else. I don\u2019t understand how gathering, travel, dining-out, etc. is worth risking your life over. I really don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s a gift for you, as well\u2014you won\u2019t have to go looking for my new columns\u2014they\u2019ll all come right to you! How\u2019s that for a win-win right now?<\/p>\n
