And even though I watched all eleven<\/em> hours of coverage, including some of several arrivals shows (I couldn\u2019t watch all<\/em> of those because they were all on at the same time,) and after-party shows, I tweeted<\/em> so many of my thoughts on those, and I\u2019m not going to repeat them here. (I\u2019m assuming that most of you follow me on Twitter, so I don\u2019t want to bore those of you who do.) But you can still read them on Twitter anytime, @MajorCelebrity<\/strong>. (And you should<\/em>\u2014this group of tweets is juic-y<\/em>!!!)<\/p>\n The bottom line is\u2014this was the best Oscars in a very long time!<\/p>\n Gorgeous Adam Lambert. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n And it was a very happy<\/em> Oscars, to boot.<\/p>\n I\u2019m shocked myself, but it really benefited from not<\/em> having a host. Kevin Hart would have been much too abrasive.<\/p>\n And no opening monologue was needed–Adam Lambert <\/strong>and Queen<\/strong> opened the show so electrifyingly; they set a fabulous tone for the rest of the night. It was a perfect duo of songs for the occasion\u2014We Will Rock You<\/em>, (which they absolutely did,) followed by We Are The Champions<\/em>, which the winners now are.<\/p>\n I correctly predicted probably ninety-five percent of the winners, so good for me!<\/p>\n But there were several weird presenters. So let\u2019s start getting into all that.<\/p>\n LOCAL ABC ARRIVALS SHOW\u2014ON THE RED CARPET<\/strong><\/p>\n Michelle Yeoh. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I love Michelle Yeoh<\/strong>\u2019s gown, especially because it hides her ultra-skinny legs. But I have one word for her\u2014sleeves<\/em>!!! Why do so many women in the public eye insist on showing their anorexic arms??? I don\u2019t get that for a minute.<\/p>\n Eventual Costume Designer winner for\u00a0Black Panther<\/em>, Ruth Carter<\/strong>, said, \u201cWhen I see all the other celebrities coming up, I get excited, too.\u201d\u00a0 She thinks she\u2019s a celebrity<\/em>??? (And this was before<\/em> she won!)<\/p>\n I see that Melissa McCarthy<\/strong> lost a bit of weight, so good for her. But that horrible outfit was not helping.<\/p>\n NATIONAL ABC ARRIVALS<\/strong><\/p>\n Billy Porter<\/strong> looked like a moron. In case you missed it, he wore a normal tuxedo top with a gown<\/em> on the bottom! As he<\/em> might say–please, girl!<\/p>\n Amy Poehler’s filthy hair. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Amy Poehler<\/strong> had the most disgusting, filthy, raggy hair I have ever seen at an awards show! Did her stylist not show up that day? Does she not own a mirror? What is wrong with her? She looked like she just gave up on life. I would not even go to the gym<\/em>\u00a0looking like that! (Nor come out<\/em> of it.)<\/p>\n Did that plus-size woman interview, Ashley Graham,<\/strong> actually finally lose weight??? Or did she just have great shapewear? No matter\u2014she finally did<\/em> look good.<\/p>\n That was not nice of ninety-four-year-old Cicely Tyson<\/strong>\u2019s people to let her wear that crazy-old-woman outfit.<\/p>\n Crazy Rich Asians<\/em>\u00a0should win for cinematography to have made Henry Golding<\/strong> look so gorgeous on film when he did not look the same, at all, at the Oscars.<\/p>\n Amay Adams on the very right. But look at her one sister’s hand on her other sister’s butt on the very left. And she moved it around every now and then! What was up with that?! Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I love that Amy Adams<\/strong> brought her female family members. But what was up with one sister grabbing the other one\u2019s butt??? Eww.<\/p>\n Jason Momoa <\/strong>and Lisa Bonet<\/strong> were not only holding hands in the weirdest way, but how do they have sex, with their height and body-weight differences???<\/p>\n JLo<\/strong>\u2014now that\u2019s<\/em> an Oscars outfit!!! (Here\u2019s a personal side note: When Mr. X and I had thought of getting married back in the day\u2014because all my friends were having not great weddings, and we wanted to show them how it\u2019s done\u2014the gown I designed for myself looked just like JLo’s Oscars one! The few people I told about it made fun of that I would wear a silver sparkling gown for my wedding, but that rebellious design was one of the reasons that having a wedding appealed to me for a minute to begin with.) Is there a more gorgeous couple anywhere?! \u00a0I think not.]<\/p>\n This is the worst outfit Glenn Close has ever worn! Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Glenn Close<\/strong> has looked so elegant throughout this season, so why in the world would she come up with that forty-two-pound monstrosity for this most important awards show of all?! But the outfit she changed into for the parties was gorgeous<\/em>, so why did she not lead with that<\/em> one??? I cannot imagine what she could have been thinking. She needs to fire her stylist pronto, if she even has one!<\/p>\n Ryan Seacrest<\/strong> was euphoric to interview Rami Malek<\/strong>\u2014Rami\u2019s the only person there who\u2019s shorter than Ryan is. (Bradley Cooper<\/strong>\u2019s mother is, as well. I don\u2019t remember her ever being that short\u2014she looked like she was about 4\u20199\u201d!!!)<\/p>\n The absolute two worst-dressed men were Spike Lee <\/strong>and Billy Porter.\u00a0 And Emma Stone<\/strong> and especially Rachel Weisz<\/strong>, were, by far, the worst women!\u00a0 Ugh, to all four of them!<\/p>\n SHOW<\/strong><\/p>\n Cicely Tyson. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n This was the best opening ever!<\/p>\n I\u2019m so happy for Adam Lambert to be the one to say, \u201cWelcome to the Oscars!\u201d<\/p>\n My favorite thing all night was Javier Bardem<\/strong>\u2019s reaction to Adam Lambert singing\u00a0We Will Rock You<\/em>! I re-watched that tiny moment again and again.<\/p>\n Side-note: The first time I saw Adam Lambert was on this very stage! I was in the first row on the opening night of The Ten Commandments: The Musical<\/em> almost fifteen years ago, and the only time I didn\u2019t hate the show was when Adam sang his one number. I was stunned by his voice! I actually went back to see that whole dreadful show just to hear him sing once again. So, I\u2019m sure his triumphant return to this stage all these years later meant a big deal to him. And I\u2019m right there with him.<\/p>\n Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet holding hands weirdly. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n That was lovely of Chris Evans <\/strong>to walk Regina King<\/strong> up the stairs to accept her award. And I especially loved that he did it in the least obvious way.<\/p>\n Helen Mirren<\/strong> and Jason Momoa were an odd presenting duo, but they made it work.<\/p>\n Even though she appeared full-of-herself walking in, (as I noted above,) Costume Design winner Ruth Carter\u2019s speech was good.<\/p>\n I did not like the goony Set Design winner from\u00a0Black Panther<\/em>, Hannah Beachler<\/strong>, who completely ignored her co-winner for set decoration.<\/p>\n Winners Jaime Ray Newman and Guy Nattiv, although the seated woman with the white hair doesn’t seem too happy for them! End of Sentence.<\/em>,\u00a0gave a fun speech.<\/p>\n No one enjoyed himself more than Richard E. Grant<\/strong>!\u00a0 I\u2019m so happy for him.<\/p>\n Why is a\u00a0chef<\/em>\u00a0presenting?<\/p>\n Two\u00a0of the happiest winners were Jaime Ray Newman<\/strong> and Guy Nattiv<\/strong>, who won for the Best Live Action Short Film,\u00a0Skin<\/em>.<\/p>\n Mahershala Ali and his ill-dressed wife on the right, with Viggo Mortensen and his date on the left. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n What in the world was Mahershala Ali<\/strong>\u2019s wife wearing??? It looks like the blanket they put over you after you\u2019ve run a marathon!!! I feel bad saying this, but she seems to always<\/em> be the worst-dressed person at an event. (Maybe she was just trying to distract us from noticing that her husband, a potential Oscar winner that night, who did<\/em> win, was wearing an outdoor skull cap…to the Oscars!!!)<\/p>\n I love this William Goldman quote that Samuel L. Jackson<\/strong> shared last night: \u201cThe easiest thing to do is not<\/em> write.\u201d Boy, do I<\/em> know that! Especially as I\u2019m trying to finish this long review right now!<\/p>\n<\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>
