It also means that I had to watch it all when I got home, and this stupid awards show\u00a0was so long that I had almost no time to work on this review.\u00a0 So I\u2019m giving you just some of my thoughts as the Grammys went on.\u00a0 And on.\u00a0 And on. (It also means that I missed the arrivals, so I can\u2019t comment on at those fashions, which I assume were mainly inane, as well.)<\/p>\n
So, let\u2019s go in order of the nonsense:<\/p>\n
The opening, with Camila Cabello\u00a0<\/strong>and Ricky Martin<\/strong> and fabulous salsa dancers was great!<\/p>\n Lady Gaga. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I hate to say this, but someone has to\u2014Alicia Keys<\/strong> looked like a cancer patient\u2026on purpose!\u00a0 Why isn\u2019t everyone getting on her case for that choice, like the blackface controversy?!<\/p>\n I used to love Alicia Keys because of her talent, but she\u2019s just way too phony now.\u00a0 I can\u2019t take it.<\/p>\n Lady Gaga<\/strong> looks like she\u2019s a poverty-stricken hood rat.<\/p>\n Jennifer Lopez<\/strong> should have been above the stupid bit that\u2019s supposed to show girl power or the like.\u00a0 And why was she hiding her eyes?<\/p>\n Jennifer Lopez. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n As always, get full-of-beans Jada Pinkett<\/strong> out of here!\u00a0 Why is she even there???\u00a0 She\u2019s not a music person.<\/p>\n Michelle Obama<\/strong> should be ashamed of herself to participate in this nonsensical segment.\u00a0 But I was happy to see that she was wearing my favorite ring that I\u2019ve been wearing for the past year.<\/p>\n This show is so pretentious, self-indulgent, and full of s**t!\u00a0 But they did this \u201cwoman\u201d bit as a reaction to what Grammys President Neil Portnow<\/strong> said last year.\u00a0 When asked why more females didn\u2019t win, he suggested that they needed to \u201cstep up.\u201d<\/p>\n Lady Gaga’s end pose in her number. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Lady Gaga<\/strong> is also full of beans, with her desperate trying to pant during her acceptance speech!<\/p>\n Alicia kept saying everyone is her \u201csister.\u201d\u00a0 If she\u2019s so desperate for a sister\u2014she can have mine!<\/p>\n Janelle Monae<\/strong> cannot dance to save her life.<\/p>\n Finally something nice on this sham of a show!\u00a0 Alicia told us that, many years ago, John Mayer<\/strong> had given her the Grammy that he had won over her, because he thought that she deserved it more than he did!\u00a0 For the first time, I finally understood why he attracts so many girls.<\/p>\n Post Malone, keeping it classy with that cigarette behind his ear! Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Post Malone<\/strong> may\u00a0look<\/em>\u00a0ridiculous, but he\u00a0sings<\/em>\u00a0great!<\/p>\n Katy Perry<\/strong> was trying sooo hard in the Dolly Parton<\/strong> segment, yet she sounded awful.<\/p>\n Dolly put them all to shame.<\/p>\n Why does Miley Cyrus<\/strong> always want to feature her bare chest and stomach? \u00a0 It\u2019s not attractive.<\/p>\n Dolly\u2019s so sweet.\u00a0 It\u2019s nice that she sang with everyone in her own tribute!<\/p>\n The\u00a0BTS<\/strong> guys were adorable, singing along with\u00a0Jolene<\/em>.<\/p>\n I hate her uber-pretentious moniker, but H.E.R.<\/strong>\u2019s easy-going performance was one of the best.<\/p>\n Besides that Mr. X said that Kacey Musgraves<\/strong> is very average, an assessment with which I agree, she looked like an idiot in her acceptance outfit.\u00a0 It looks like someone stabbed Big Bird to death.<\/p>\n See what I mean about Kacey Musgraves’ outfit?! Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Dan and Shay<\/strong> always seem so nice.\u00a0 And grateful for their success.<\/p>\n Diana Ross’ triumphant entrance. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Even though Diana Ross<\/strong>\u2019 performance was kind-of scream-y, she showed them all how to be a star, from the second she arrived on stage.\u00a0 It was a throwback experience, but it\u2019s the only time I couldn\u2019t look away to write even a one-word note.<\/p>\n And her nine-year-old grandson who introduced her was so well-spoken!<\/p>\n Lady Gaga is so full-of-herself.\u00a0 Watching her trying-way-too-hard performance, (the photo of which is a few above here,) Mr. X said, \u201cShe creeps me out.\u201d<\/p>\n The best part of the whole night was the brief acapella duet between Smokey Robinson<\/strong> and Alicia Keys.<\/p>\n Diana Ross’ daughter on her phone in the front row! Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n But, shamefully, Diana Ross\u2019 idiot daughter (the one she had with Berry Gordy<\/strong>) was on the phone during it!\u00a0 In the front\u00a0row<\/em>!!!<\/p>\n Now I\u2019ve seen everything\u2014Janelle Monae\u2019s hair-do is\u2026safety pins!!!<\/p>\n I know that before the show, people were up in arms about JLo doing the Motown tribute, but she was the perfect one to do it, once I saw what it was.\u00a0 But it was strange that it was really more about her<\/em>!<\/p>\n I thought that BTS couldn\u2019t speak English!\u00a0 But the one guy did great!<\/p>\n But all but the main dude look like women!\u00a0 On purpose. What is up with that<\/em>?!<\/p>\n BTS. Don’t they all look like women, except for maybe the one in the middle?! Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n H.E.R should not have received Album of the Year for something that\u2019s not even an album!!!\u00a0 Even she<\/em> said it\u2019s just an EP!<\/p>\n Janelle Monae’s safety pin “hair!” Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n And she said, \u201cI have no words,\u201d but she\u2019s the only one who had to be played-off for going too long!\u00a0 With her way too many words.\u00a0 Ironic, eh?<\/p>\n I have never, ever heard of Brandi Carlile<\/strong>, but she was up for something like five Grammys last night!\u00a0 How is that even possible?<\/p>\n I\u2019m not a fan of Chloe x Halle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n What a hilarious pairing\u2014Alessia Cara <\/strong>and Bob Newhart<\/strong> presenting Best New Artist because they had both won it\u2014she<\/em> last year, and he<\/em> in…1961!
