Some things have stayed constant since then, (after all, this\u00a0is<\/em>\u00a0Great Britain we\u2019re talking about, where things change at a snail\u2019s pace,) but one major situation\u00a0has<\/em>\u00a0changed, which is really interesting in the scheme of the world\u2014a real Prince of England, who is now sixth in line\u00a0to the throne since William\u2019s new son was born, (do you believe he and Kate have had three kids in just seven years???,) is allowed to not only marry a divorcee, who is older than he, and an American, to boot, but a black girl!!!\u00a0 (I applaud that last part, by the way.) Who ever thought\u00a0any of that<\/em>\u00a0would happen in our lifetime?!\u00a0 (But maybe it means that someone is soon planning to prove that he is<\/em> the son of James Hewitt, rather than Prince Charles, so they can get rid of both Harry and Meghan in one fell swoop.)<\/p>\n …and just a few weeks ago, with their new baby. And they look the same!<\/p><\/div>\n [Note: In case you haven\u2019t noticed, things are already falling apart with her family. How did the Queen let Harry choose this woman?! If we can all<\/em> see that this is an impending train wreck, why can\u2019t the Royal Family??? Or do they just not give a fig?]<\/p>\n On the positive<\/em> side, another change is that this<\/em> time, I\u2019ll be live-tweeting the proceedings. Yay!\u00a0 So, if you don\u2019t already follow me, this would be a grand time to do so.\u00a0 @MajorCelebrity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n But what\u00a0hasn\u2019t\u00a0changed is how to watch the royal wedding, which takes place on Saturday morning at the crack of dawn, United States time.\u00a0(Check the TV listings for all the coverage options and times.\u00a0 Many stations will repeat it all at some point, but I\u2019m planning on watching it live, beginning at 1AM, complete with wardrobe and appropriate fare. And on the BBC feed, of course. It\u2019s the only<\/em> way to do it, dah-lings!)<\/p>\n So, here again, let me help you all out with some tips for watching the Royal Wedding to make it the most fun experience for yourself, no matter\u00a0what<\/em>\u00a0you think of the new duchess.\u00a0 [Note:\u00a0That<\/em> will be her title; not \u201cPrincess,\u201d which I have a feeling will really chap that fame-seeker\u2019s hide.]<\/p>\n Karen Salkin modeling Royal Wedding appropriate attire, including a fabulous fascinator.<\/p><\/div>\n Wardrobe<\/strong>:\u00a0 Women–you absolutely\u00a0must<\/em>\u00a0wear a hat!\u00a0 It\u2019s mandatory.\u00a0 And not just\u00a0any<\/em>\u00a0hat\u2013it must be a\u00a0fascinator<\/em>.\u00a0 And don\u2019t forget the skinny gloves.\u00a0 Even if the rest of your ensemble is pajamas and a bathrobe, which both must be silk, of course!<\/p>\n Food<\/strong>:\u00a0 As many of you know, my\u00a0real<\/em>\u00a0area of dining expertise is Afternoon Tea, and I\u2019m very exacting about it.\u00a0 Even though I\u2019m super strict about the rules of this repast, (such as: that High Tea is a totally different animal from Afternoon Tea, the actual dishes have to be served in the correct order, and the time of this meal must be somewhere between 2-5PM,) I\u2019m loosening them a bit for this occasion, or else we could not partake of all that deliciousness at this early morning hour.<\/p>\n So, please have at least some<\/em> of these treats during the festivities.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure that a few of you will love the excuse to sip a spot of sherry or champagne at this hour, too, so go for it!\u00a0 I wholeheartedly recommend that at the very least, you feast on some scones with clotted cream and jam (my mouth is actually watering as I write that,) and tea with milk and honey.\u00a0 (Just remember\u00a0to hold your teacup with your pinky out to the side!)<\/p>\n Scones with lemon curd. (There’s a lot of lemon going on in this picture!)<\/p><\/div>\n Scones are\u00a0very<\/em>\u00a0filling, so even one should get you through at least the first few hours of coverage.\u00a0 And some fresh strawberries and cream, in any form, will be a lovely accompaniment.\u00a0 (And, with\u00a0that\u00a0<\/em>dish, you can be satisfied knowing that you\u2019re fulfilling a \u201cfruit portion\u201d of your diet so early in the day!)<\/p>\n If you need a bit more hearty sustenance, add a few finger sandwiches. Chicken, turkey, or salmon fillings will make it feel the most like a meal, while cucumber and cream cheese ones will be the classiest. And most proper for the occasion. And a fun, flavored cream cheese spread, such as a nutty one, on cinnamon-raison bread, will be a special guest star.<\/p>\n This is my favorite photo of Princess Diana and her young princes.<\/p><\/div>\n Extras<\/strong>: I suggest you have at least one big box of tissues handy, just in case.\u00a0 You may\u00a0think<\/em>\u00a0you\u2019re above the emotion of it all, and are just watching for the history of it, but trust me, even if, like moi, you\u2019re not a fan of this bride, the fact that it\u2019s a wedding at all will get us a tad teary-eyed.
