WIMBLEDON 2017 BEGAN ON MONDAY!<\/h1>\n

The esteemed British tennis tournament actually began on Monday (because they don\u2019t give a whit about the 4th of July over there,) but I took the entire five-day holiday off, so I neglected to herald the very beginning of the tourney in this e-zine this year.<\/p>\n

\"Strawberries<\/a>

Strawberries and cream! Yum!!!<\/p><\/div>\n

I haven\u2019t gotten to the bottom of it yet, but, for some reason, this Wimbledon is starting much later than usual. It’s usually\u00a0over<\/em> around the 4th of July! And just how do I know that off the top of my head? Because I always enjoy strawberries and cream during Breakfast at Wimbledon, (which is the moniker for the last two days of the competition,) and I have such an easy time purchasing those berries because they\u2019re in demand for 4th of July parties!!! But this<\/em> year, the whole shebang is just beginning<\/em> on the day before the 4th, so it\u2019s another fortnight until the end. (Do you like the way I slipped that official British terminology in there?)<\/p>\n

\"Roger<\/a>

Roger Federer, hoisting his Championship trophy last week at Halle, a pre-Wimbledon grass tournament that he’s won a record nine times!!! OMG!<\/p><\/div>\n

This one is sure to be interesting\u2014the two \u201coldsters\u201d of the sport, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, won the previous two Majors this year, both of which were shocks, so now it\u2019s anybody’s guess just what will happen at Wimbledon. Everyone\u2019s<\/em> on notice!<\/p>\n

I\u2019m always on edge, praying that Roger will come out the Champion. But at least I can relax on the Women\u2019s<\/em> side\u2014no Serena Williams to root against! She\u2019s preggers, so, of course, she\u2019s sitting this one out. (But I have no doubt that she\u2019ll be back on the tour just as strong within a few months of giving birth. And fans will go nuts!)<\/p>\n
