Every single rep we met was lovely. And they were so enthusiastic about their properties, without being phony about it. You could tell that they all love what they do, and are Langham fans. They adorably brought along little gifts for us, like the most beautiful pink pens I\u2019ve ever seen, chocolate bars, and even tiny pink toy cars. My photographer, Sheila, and I enjoyed chatting with them all. And learning about the hotels, of course. I don\u2019t know which one to visit first! (Well, after Pasadena, which I hope to do next month, when I return to LA.)<\/p>\n

During all the meeting and greeting, we were fed royally, as befitting the Langhams. I\u2019ve rarely seen such a luxurious spread at what is billed as a \u201cmeet-and-greet!\u201d Sheila was thrilled to do all the reviewing for both of us, as my diet is unfortunately limited now. I can\u2019t tell you how sad I was to forego all the gorgeous fare, but Sheila was more than happy to do the honors for you. [Note: All the following words in quotes are hers.]<\/p>\n

As we entered the third floor Gallery, we actually did not know where to look first. The Gallery was the perfect space for this soir\u00e9e. The foods were cleverly featured in groups, and the first thing we noticed was the \u201cbeautiful\u201d shrimp cocktail with Caesar cocktail sauce. Then our eyes to moved on to the beef section, which was comprised of \u201cdelectable\u201d smoked apple beef short ribs atop celery root pur\u00e9e, and \u201coutstanding\u201d Chicago-style mini Italian beef sandwiches.<\/p>\n

As we went around a corner, we noticed how visually stunning the platters of charcuterie and cheese were. Sheila was especially fond of the artisanal barley bread which she paired with pomegranate honey. She deemed it \u201cperfection!\u201d Those displays also featured black currant spreadable fruit, amaretto honey,
\npate, gherkins, figs, pearl onions, and more!<\/p>\n
You would think all that was more than enough for a quick little evening repast, but no. Not at Langham Place! The absolute pi\u00e8ce de r\u00e9sistance was the glorious dessert bar. A dark chocolate fountain was the centerpiece, and some of the choices to dip into it were strawberries, pineapple chunks, and a duo of homemade marshmallows. (I was ecstatic when I saw that\u2014I was able to feast on this treat because it was fruit and dark chocolate, two items I can enjoy guilt-free.)<\/p>\n

Some of the other items on that long table were Nutella chocolate cake, salted chocolate Nutella cookies, hazelnut layered chocolate cremes, and make-your-own s\u2019mores. Sheila and I were far from the only guests exclaiming over all the treats\u2014it seemed that many could barely tear themselves away from that area!<\/p>\n
Another thing we all appreciated was that there was plenty of room to sit and enjoy. The bar was perfect, as well\u2014the right size, wonderful libations, and cute bartender. Who could need more than all of that?!<\/p>\n
