Overall, though, I thought it was a good show. It moved fast enough. And no one really annoyed me. And, as always, I loved host Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong>. He always hits just the write notes for me. (Except for his very tasteless comments right after the In Memorium segment. They were awful.)<\/p>\n I was sort-of surprised that there were not more political statements, especially Hillary love. But the ones that were made were excellent.<\/p>\n I didn\u2019t like that there were way too many nominees in each category this year. Why did they do away with the perfect five? There could not have been three-way ties for fifth placed in that many categories, so it must have been the TV academy\u2019s decision to up the nominee number, possibly to attract more viewers. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n As usual, I disliked all<\/em> the hosts of the arrivals shows. They all try way too hard, and are therefore, annoying. And, in most cases, full of themselves. They\u2019re more interested in hearing their own voices than in what the celebs have to say.<\/p>\n I live-tweeted most of my thoughts on Sunday night, as the evening went along. If you missed that fun, and don\u2019t want to be left-out next time, please follow me now @MajorCelebrity<\/strong>, so you can be in with the in-crowd from here on out.<\/p>\n Okay, now let\u2019s get to my brief thoughts on the proceedings, in the order that they happened. (For you astute readers\u2014yes, of course I could not watch all four arrivals shows at one time! So, just for you guys, I went back and watched the rest laster! Oysh.)<\/p>\n LOCAL ABC ARRIVALS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n It’s bad enough that Jon Voight inissts on wearing that schmata constantly, but George Pennachio should know enough to not handle the celebs’ clothing! Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Marcus Scribner<\/strong>, the older son on Black-ish<\/em>, is a man now!\u00a0 And he\u2019s so well-spoken.\u00a0 I predict big things for this kid.<\/p>\n Host George Pennaccio referenced Jon Voight<\/strong>\u2019s neck schmata right after I tweeted about it! And it was a tad weird how different-colored those two men\u2019s faces were. I\u2019ve worked with Jon on several occasions, and he\u2019s very weird, (and obviously an idiot since he\u2019s a Trump supporter,) but at least he\u2019s a grateful man.<\/p>\n Moronic George Pennaccio actually asked, \u201cIs there a bigger star than Jenifer Lewis<\/strong>?\u201d\u00a0 WHO???\u00a0 So, yes, George\u2014there are a zillion bigger stars than an occasional guest actress on a network sitcom!\u00a0 Zillions<\/em>!<\/p>\n NATIONAL ABC ARRIVALS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Tracee Ellis Ross. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n How did Tracee Ellis Ross<\/strong> get her eyes to look normal and even for the first time ever?\u00a0 Good make-up artist. And good for her!<\/p>\n Why did host Lara Spencer have to mention (again<\/em>) that Tracee\u2019s mom is Diana Ross?\u00a0 That\u2019s so rude.<\/p>\n Padma Lakshmi<\/strong> is not a good-looking woman, but she does have the best dress of the night.<\/p>\n Rami Malek<\/strong> always seems so nice.\u00a0 And I love his blue eyes.\u00a0 And good for him to correct idiot host Rachel Smith for proudly saying his character\u2019s name wrong!<\/p>\n As I tweeted, not one of these idiots mentioned the Frankenstein spokes in Fred Armisen<\/strong>\u2019s neck!\u00a0 Observant of them.<\/p>\n That idiot Rachel interviewer chick said of Taraji P. Henson<\/strong>, \u201cShe needs no introduction,\u201d and then introduced her!<\/p>\n E! ARRIVALS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Ariel Winter. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n It was one hundred degrees out, but host Giuliana Rancic was wearing a cape!\u00a0 I\u2019m glad she finally listened to me and covered her skeleton arms, but this was not the time to do it.<\/p>\n I absolutely love that Tatyana Maslany<\/strong> told Giuliana that she put her on the spot.\u00a0 Good for her! These hosts seem to think the celebs are trained monkeys!<\/p>\n I guess that now that Ryan Seacrest has worked on big boy NBC, (for the Olympics,) he\u2019s done with lowly cable.<\/p>\n Ariel Winter<\/strong> thinks she looks so good since she reduced her boobs, but she gained even more weight and looks awful.<\/p>\n Kristen Bell. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n The new guy interviewer on there asked someone, \u201cHow nervous, how competitive are you?,\u201d like those two concepts are the same thing.<\/p>\n There\u2019s something about Felicity Huffman <\/strong>and William Macy<\/strong> that actually makes me physically nauseated, especially him.\u00a0 He\u2019s so creepy, even his phony way of talking.<\/p>\n Caleb McLaughlin<\/strong>, from Stranger Things<\/em>, is great. That kid is mature!<\/p>\n Giuliana said to Emilia Clarke<\/strong>, \u201cGo on, you can go, Emilia,\u201d to make room for bigger celeb Heidi Klum<\/strong>, and practically pushed her off!!!\u00a0 How rude!<\/p>\n Claire Danse rocking her awful fake tan! Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n The only good part of any of these arrivals shows was hearing Titus Burgess<\/strong> sing for a second!\u00a0 Wow.\u00a0 He blew me away in those few notes.<\/p>\n As nutty as Terrance Howard<\/strong> is, he made great sense about why to choose you kids\u2019 names carefully.\u00a0 (He pointed-out that their names will last longer than their lives. Mind blown.)<\/p>\n Kristen Bell<\/strong> looked really good.\u00a0 Glowy skin, and her dress would make her stay cool on top, yet the bottom is very dressy and princess-y.<\/p>\n Claire Danes<\/strong> looked like an Oompa Loompa.\u00a0 Maybe it was her little tribute to Gene Wilder.<\/p>\n LOCAL CHANNEL 5 ARRIVALS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Judith Light. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n These two hosts, Sam Rubin and Jessica something, are exactly an SNL<\/em> skit. \u00a0 They\u2019re basically telling each interviewee, \u201cGet out of here!\u201d I think they\u2019re Cheri Oteri and \u201cJiminy Glick\u201d in disguise. (Mr. X came in to watch for a second, and likened them to those very two same people!)<\/p>\n My advice to Judith Light<\/strong>, (and several\u00a0others,) is: lipstick, honey, lipstick!<\/p>\n Matt LeBlanc<\/strong> is actually quite charming. And handsome.<\/p>\n Sarah Hyland<\/strong>\u2019s stupid outfit is the worst.\u00a0 It\u2019s like she ripped the bottom of her dress by accident, and threw on leggings so she would\u2019t be naked. And the leggings don’t even fit well! \u00a0I’ve worn better-fitting ones to the gym!<\/p>\n Sarah Hyland. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Keegan-Michael Key<\/strong> did females backwards\u2014he left the good-looking wife for a miskite girlfriend.\u00a0 I don\u2019t get it.<\/p>\n I just realized something\u2014I think that Regina King<\/strong> has the best, most natural jewelry there.<\/p>\n Emily Ratajkowski<\/strong> has the weirdest body!\u00a0 She looks almost like something is wrong.\u00a0 I\u2019m hoping it\u2019s just that bad dress.<\/p>\n Padma Lakshmi has the best dress, by far.\u00a0 And the most plastic surgery!<\/p>\n Roma Downey<\/strong> looks gorgeous!!!!<\/p>\n Liev Schreiber. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I saw a very ugly dress they were showing from the bottom up, and wondered what very unfashionable person could be wearing it.\u00a0 Then they got to the face, and it was a bad-looking older woman I had never seen before, so I figured it was a producer type, who just didn\u2019t know better.\u00a0 And then later, she showed up with Heidi Klum, and it turns-out, she\u2019s Nina Garcia<\/strong>, who\u2019s a judge on Project Runway<\/em>!!!\u00a0 How is that even possible?!<\/p>\n Anna Chlumsky<\/strong> looked like a buffoon.<\/p>\n Naomi Watts\u2019 son looks just like her.<\/p>\n OMG\u2014Liev Schreiber<\/strong>\u2014clean out your pores!!!<\/p>\n I\u2019m shocked who my favorite interviewee is!\u00a0 Jerry Seinfeld<\/strong>.\u00a0 He\u2019s like me\u2014he let everyone know how boorish they are with their inane questions!\u00a0 Love it!<\/p>\n TELECAST<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Poor Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Jimmy Kimmel was wonderful!\u00a0 With him, there was no pushing, just low-key funniness, (except for his disrespectful bit about the In Memorium segment.)<\/p>\n Louie Anderson<\/strong> can barely walk!!!\u00a0 I always wondered why he doesn\u2019t fix his teeth already, but he has a much more serious problem.\u00a0 He needs to lose over two hundred pounds!\u00a0 He can barely breathe.\u00a0 How could someone take a chance on hiring him???\u00a0 He\u2019s more<\/em> than morbidly obese.\u00a0 And he said \u201cstoled\u201d instead of \u201cstole!\u201d On purpose!!!<\/p>\n Alan Yang<\/strong>, who won for writing Master Of None<\/em>, had a really funny line about that Asian kids should put down their violins and pick-up cameras. Hilarious.<\/p>\n Niecy Nash<\/strong> is the first one I\u2019ve ever seen who let it be known she\u2019s not happy to have lost.<\/p>\n Kate McKinnon<\/strong> looked good! And\u00a0her speech, or more accurately, the emotional way she delivered it, made me cry.<\/p>\n Constance Woo<\/strong> looked gorgeous! She never looked like that on Fresh Off the Boat<\/em>! Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I\u2019m glad for Peter Scolari<\/strong> to finally have some success.\u00a0 He must usually feel like Brian Dunkleman.\u00a0 (At the same time I said that, Mr. X said, \u201cPete Best.\u201d)<\/p>\n The way these nominations are going, (all cable,) the networks will soon need an awards show of their own<\/em>! (Like the former Cable Ace Awards, when cable was the lonely step-child.)<\/p>\n To the writers of this show\u2014\u201cshare\u201d means \u201cin common\u201d; you should not put\u00a0them in the same sentence!<\/p>\n That\u2019s so sad for Julia Louis-Dreyfus<\/strong> to have lost her father just two days before.\u00a0 That\u2019s why she looked so awful, and her hands were shaking.<\/p>\n Kerry Washington. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Kerry Washington<\/strong>‘s hair looked awful\u2014like me<\/em> in Florida!<\/p>\n This was the absolute best Kathy Bates<\/strong> has ever looked in her life!\u00a0 Just last week, on Stand Up To Cancer<\/em>, she looked the worst.\u00a0 She should put her Emmys make-up artist on retainer!<\/p>\n Regina King\u2019s mother looks classy.<\/p>\n Sadly, Amy Poehler<\/strong> is turning into Shelly Winters.\u00a0 As Mr. X tells people (not to their faces, of course)–Hey Amy\u2014mix in a salad!<\/p>\n Amy Poehler. They all looked like Tan Mom!!!<\/p>\n Could Liev Schreiber have announced the winner any more low-key?<\/p>\n What a great band, and especially John Mayer<\/strong>.\u00a0 What a treat for that audience!<\/p>\n I was so happy for Patton Oswalt<\/strong>. I don\u2019t know what his win was for, but after the shocking death of his wife earlier this year, I wanted him to have even a moment of happiness.<\/p>\n Kathy Bates. But I was amazed by it\u2014previous to John, I<\/em> had been the only person on TV to ever just talk by myself for a half hour, with no commercials or guests! And trust me, it\u2019s not the easiest thing to do. I was entertaining, but John is brilliant<\/em>! (I know\u2014it\u2019s been pointed-out to me that his show is written, while I<\/em> just talked off the top of my head for all that time, but his writing<\/em> is so spot-on that I still give the edge to him. Not that\u2019s a contest.)<\/p>\n I loved that brief section with the head of the whole shebang lauding the oh so important technical people in the industry!\u00a0 It was short, sweet, informative, and the man was attractive enough.<\/p>\n Henry Winkler<\/strong> is so full of himself.\u00a0 And it was rude that he didn\u2019t intro Tori Kelly. He was so into his phony baloney speech that he totally didn\u2019t even think of anyone else. At least John Travolta\u2019s \u201cAdele Dazeem\u201d disaster was an attempt<\/em> at a name!<\/p>\n Worst Dress goes to Anna Chlumsky. What the heck was she wearing??? (I did tweet<\/em> until the bitter end, though.) So, all-in-all, I enjoyed the Emmys, and was glad they ended on time, so I could get back to things I cared about more.<\/p>\n Speaking of caring about, this show did let me know about the death of someone I hate having lost.
