One very important realization came out of these two weeks for me. I finally understand why I need to be on Instagram, rather than just Twitter\u2014it\u2019s hard to say everything I need to in just one hundred forty characters!!! (And while I\u2019m on that topic, thanks to everyone who\u2019s been following my tweets @MajorCelebrity<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n As hard as I tried, I did not get to see every second of every event.\u00a0 (After all, there were three hundred fifty-six hours of coverage…a day!) But I did see most, including all of NBC\u2019s coverage.\u00a0 (The few minutes I missed were on the auxiliary stations.)<\/p>\n Look at the bottom line, and you’ll see what I mean. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n So, here are the rest of my thoughts since I last did my Olympic Updates, (which, if you missed them, you can read here, to get the complete picture: itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/olympicskarens-rant-olympics-2016-updates<\/a>.)\u00a0 And, to continue my last thought from those updates, here are some facts that back-up my premise about Michael Phelps\u2019 medals.<\/p>\n Pernille Blume. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I know a lot of my observations are about the athletes\u2019 looks, but someone<\/em> needs to address these beauty issues, so it may as well be me<\/em>.\u00a0 Do many of them not know they\u2019ll be on TV???\u00a0 Yes\u2014of course<\/em> their athletic performances are what counts, but they do need to step-up their beauty issues.\u00a0 Just saying\u2019.\u00a0 (And saying\u2019 and saying\u2019 again.) [Note: My tweet about the beauty of Kristi Castlin got the most attention of any of them! So, I guess my shallowness is universal.]<\/p>\n I\u2019m not even going to address the \u201cRyan Lochte and the swimmers\u201d scandal.\u00a0 (Sounds like a bad garage band, doesn\u2019t it?)\u00a0 It\u2019s been discussed to death.\u00a0 They were complete and utter and spectacular idiots.\u00a0 Dot, dash, end of story.\u00a0 (Okay, not really the end, because several pals said things like this to me: \u201cObviously, you’ve never had a heavy-drinking outing!\u201d\u00a0 Since I\u2019ve never had more than a few sips of alcohol in my whole life, that assessment is correct.\u00a0 And to that, I answer:\u00a0 That<\/em> rowdiness I can understand. \u00a0A little. \u00a0But why lie, and create an\u00a0international\u00a0incident? \u00a0I just hope those guys don\u2019t receive a lifetime ban from the Olympics!)\u00a0 [Last sidebar on the topic: I think we already knew they guy was not the brightest bulb, but here are three awful mis-speaks from Ryan Lochte\u2019s recent interview with Matt Lauer: he called \u201ctactics\u201d \u201ctantics,\u201d he says the dreaded\u201cexpecially,\u201d and he kept saying that he \u201cover-exaggerated\u201d history. I have news for him\u2014by definition, \u201cexaggerated\u201d means \u201cover!\u201d Oysh.]<\/p>\n Now back to the rest.<\/p>\n Rio has pulled it off!!! With all the dread and bad talk before them, I was really worried. But they were great. And, the best to me is that everyone was safe. (I love how prescient I was about the choice of this colorful city when I wrote this, way back in 2009!: itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/rio-olympics<\/a>.)<\/p>\n Show Jumping, which I love, but just look at that sad empty venue. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n One aspect of the Rio Olympics that made me really sad, though, was all the pretty empty arenas.\u00a0 Even the \u201cfree\u201d ones were never \u201csold out!\u201d Perhaps they should have given tickets away, maybe even in contests, if they felt they needed to save face. (But the the traffic would have been even worse to the venues.)<\/p>\n All the commentators always say \u201cathletes,\u201d even for the horses.\u00a0 They\u2019re obviously instructed to do so by the powers-that-be, either at NBC or the International Olympics Committee.<\/p>\n A broadcaster there finally really got on my nerves.\u00a0 Daytime auxiliary channel host Carolyn Manno\u2019s type of questions to the athletes was to give them the whole scenario that she expects them to answer, and then say, \u201cIs that right?\u201d\u00a0 Awful! (Shades of Jiminy Glick, And Skip E. Lowe, for all my Los Angeles readers.)<\/p>\n At the beginning of this second week of competition, Mr. X said he couldn\u2019t put his finger on it, but he felt this Olympics was off somehow, that it lacked excitement and sparkle.\u00a0 Then, as he joined me to watch a bit of the late night show one night, and saw Ryan Seacrest talking, he exclaimed, \u201cThat\u2019s it!\u00a0 Ryan Seacrest is killing the Olympics.\u201d\u00a0 And he did not mean \u201ckilling it\u201d as in \u201cdoing great\u201d;\u00a0he meant ruining it.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t know exactly why that was, and then I realized\u2014they needed a sports<\/em> man hosting the show, like Jim McKay back in the day!\u00a0 (As they went to commercial one night, Ryan actually exclaimed, \u201cI suck!\u201d\u00a0 But he was referring to his Brazilian frescobol skills.\u00a0 Or was<\/em> he?!)<\/p>\n FRIDAY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Doesn’t he just look dumb? Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n [Note: I wrote these comments on-time, as the games went along, so this was before the big scandal.] I\u2019ve always known that Ryan Lochte is cute-looking, and a lot of fun, and a talented athlete, but I never really liked him before.\u00a0 The way he handled his defeat (to Michael Phelps and others) last night has made me a fan.\u00a0 I really do hope we see him back at the Olympics in 2012. [And then he had to and ruin all that good will. What a shame.]<\/p>\n Why are most of the women skeet shooters so heavy?\u00a0 I\u2019m seriously asking.<\/p>\n I can\u2019t believe how riveted I am to archery and shooting!<\/p>\n Brady ellison. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I hate to go along with the rest of the webiverse, but yes, archer Brady Ellison does look like Leonardo DiCaprio.\u00a0 Not in the body (at all,) but in the face.<\/p>\n Finally, someone there has gorgeous teeth!!!\u00a0 It\u2019s swimmer Pernille Blume of Denmark. (That’s her pic back up there, near the top.)<\/p>\n Shot Put gold medalist, American Michelle Carter seems like the sweetest girl!<\/p>\n The swim team should be ashamed of themselves, especially Katie Ledecky, for not mentioning Amy Van Dyken even once.\u00a0 Katie equaled Amy\u2019s record, but no shout-out to her predecessor, especially after her horrific accident two years ago, that has left her paralyzed form the wast down. I hate them all for that neglect!<\/p>\n Why would Maia Dirado wear her hair like that on TV??? Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Diver Kassidy Cook has excellent teeth, as well.<\/p>\n Swimmer Maia Dorado is probably the smartest, most mentally stable athlete the US has.\u00a0 But why in the world would she wear her \u201cshower hair\u201d to be interviewed by Ryan Seacrest after winning her gold medal?!\u00a0 You can tell it\u2019s good enough hair, and would have been fine down, even still damp.\u00a0 And the make-up people on the set would have helped her with it.\u00a0 I\u2019m just saying\u2019.<\/p>\n SATURDAY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Just one set of pretty fingernails, on a Brazilian this time. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Daytime Track and Field commentator, Tim Hutchings, called the female steeplechaser from India,\u00a0Lalita Shivaj Babar, \u201cthe little Indian.\u201d\u00a0 I know how he meant it, but these days, I\u2019m sure everyone will jump on him.<\/p>\n I have to give many of the female athletes big props again, for all the creative fingernails.<\/p>\n Tom Hammond said, \u201cHere comes Usain Bolt, with an entourage,\u201d as he was walking in a stadium tunnel.\u00a0 It was not an entourage, idiot!\u00a0 They were his competitors for that heat!\u00a0 They all entered together.\u00a0 That was apparent to even the casual observer.\u00a0 Nothing like trying to create drama where there is none.<\/p>\n Couldn’t Tom Hammond tell these were all Olympians??? Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Steeplechase medalist Emma Coburn is one of the prettiest girls there.\u00a0 (Not that it matters, but\u2026\u00a0 Please refer back to my first sentence.)\u00a0 Along with Beach Volleyball-er Anouk Verge-Depre.<\/p>\n Todd Harris reports on the auxiliary Track and Field events is very strong.\u00a0 He sounds like Dwight Stones, who severed that purpose for many Olympics.<\/p>\n Surprising diver Uschi Freitag. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Do you think that the female US Team Pursuit Cycling team lost to Great Britain because they all wore gloves during the gold medal match while the Great Britain girls rocked sparkly nails?\u00a0 Just saying\u2019.<\/p>\n I\u2019m not being mean, but does Uschi Freitag look like a diver to you?\u00a0 I\u2019m amazed.<\/p>\n What a little bi-atch Kassidy Cook is!\u00a0 Right after she knew that she did not make the diving final, her American teammate, who did<\/em> make it, went over to hug her, to console her, and Kassidy didn\u2019t even look at Abby!\u00a0 She just gave Abby a perfunctory pat during the hug, and sort-of dismissed her.\u00a0 She\u2019s the opposite of sweet swimmer Missy Franklin, I\u2019m afraid.<\/p>\n The wonderful end of the Heptathalon. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n One of the nicest ends I\u2019ve ever seen in sports was the end of the Heptathlon.\u00a0 Not only were all the competitors hugging each other and genuinely smiling, but then all the ladies got together in one long line and took several bows to the appreciative crowd.\u00a0 Loved it<\/em>!<\/p>\n Why do they waste our time with all this Leslie Jones nonsense?!\u00a0 I don\u2019t even have enough hours in the day to watch every sport<\/em> I want to, yet NBC throws this crap on.<\/p>\n Alexander Huber’s eye! Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Austrian Beach Volleyball player Alexander Huber is not what I call good-looking, but he has the most gorgeous blue eyes I\u2019ve ever seen.\u00a0 And that means a lot coming from this very proud blue-eyed gal!<\/p>\n SUNDAY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n I was never a Missy Franklin fan before, but when I saw an interview with her today, that all changed.\u00a0 What an honest and supportive and positive person she is!\u00a0 I wish I had some friends like that!\u00a0 (I do<\/em>, but the all live elsewhere, so I never get to see them anymore.\u00a0 Shame.)\u00a0 I just wish she wasn\u2019t always goofily laughing over absolutely nothing.<\/p>\n Missy Franklin. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n As I just said, I think the world of Missy Franklin, but on a shallow note, how can a twenty-one-year-old have such deep forward wrinkles already??? (I guess it\u2019s from all the water.)<\/p>\n I was very impressed that the US is the only country who had three women in the top ten of the marathon.<\/p>\n Being such a girly-girl, you know I\u2019m a Synchronized Swimming fan.\u00a0 And I always wish that others would realize that these girls are really the best athletes in the world.\u00a0 But, as much as I love the sport, I have to ask\u2014how does one get into it to begin with?\u00a0 What mother says to her daughter, “I have an idea\u2014why don’t you get into this really difficult sport that’s going to take up all your time and make you no money in life, and not even come in handy for anything unless you fall into the water upside down and have to hold your breath that way for a few minutes.”\u00a0 (Mr. X commented that it’s like getting a liberal arts degree. I hear him!)\u00a0 Seriously, besides everything else difficult about the sport, who wants to never be able to have good hair???<\/p>\n A sychronized swimmer being pushed into a flip by her seven teammates! Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I friggin\u2019 love Equestrian!\u00a0 Show Jumping is my fave.<\/p>\n Stanford sure has a lot of Olympians!\u00a0 So that means these athletes are also very smart. You go, boys and girls!<\/p>\n How fun for Kerri Walsh to have members of the US basketball team sing Happy Birthday<\/em> to her after her quarterfinal win!<\/p>\n What bad sports the US Women\u2019s Soccer Team is.\u00a0 First creepy Hope Solo called Sweden (the team that beat them) \u201ccowards,\u201d (for no reason other than her usual bad sportsmanship,) and then several of here teammates could not have acted more miserable on the late night show, during an interview with Ryan Seacrest.\u00a0 At least they were honest about how crushed they were, (and still are,) to lose in the quarterfinals, so there\u2019s that.\u00a0 But everything they had to say about not advancing in the competition made them look like spoiled brats.<\/p>\n MONDAY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n I\u2019m so sad there\u2019s only this one week to go!<\/p>\n Another pretty girl\u2014Deajah Stevens.<\/p>\n A Rhythmic Gymnastics team. With my luck, they’d make me be the one on top! Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I hate the \u201cone false start and you\u2019re out\u201d rule. It should be two. What if an athlete’s muscle just jumps?<\/p>\n I just realized something.\u00a0 With no exaggeration, I would literally die if I tried so many of these Olympics sports.\u00a0 And I don\u2019t mean fencing, because I\u2019d have the protection of the uniform.\u00a0 I mean diving, gymnastics, throwing a hammer, and even running in the heat!<\/p>\n Sara Robles, bronze medalist for Super Weightlifting, speaks so well.\u00a0 I hope she becomes a commentator for the sport down the line.\u00a0 And I love that a big girl in that sport has a French manicure!<\/p>\n Bronze medalist Clayton Murphy, facing us, being embraced by winner David Rudisha. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I love that Emma Coburn\u2019s hair looked so great on the medal stand, after a grueling Steeplechase run.<\/p>\n Jeff Henderson, gold medalist in Long Jump, seems like such a lovely person.\u00a0 I\u2019d like him as a friend.<\/p>\n One of my favorite races was the men\u2019s 800m, where all three medalists could not stop hugging each other.\u00a0 Young American, Clayton Murphy, who shockingly won the bronze, must have fainted inside that his idol, the great David Rudisha, was hugging him!!!<\/p>\n Finally, a sport where every single competitor knows enough to have gorgeous white teeth!\u00a0 And, of course, it\u2019s Synchronized Swimming!\u00a0 I actually think it may be a requirement<\/em>, like hair gel and nose plugs.<\/p>\n Arthur Zanetti, on the right, hugging Eleftherios Petrounias, the guy who dethroned him for the gold! Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I could not be happier for the Dutch girl who won the Balance Beam, Sanne Wevers.<\/p>\n And the same for Thiago Braze DaSilva, the Brazilian who won the Pole Vault, and got an Olympic record in his last vault. I always love when the home country\u2019s athletes win, but even more so in this poor-ish area.<\/p>\n You would never have guessed from the embrace that Brazilian gymnast Arthur Zanetti had just lost his defending gold medal to Eleftherios Petrounias of Greece!\u00a0 What great sportsmanship!!!<\/p>\n TUESDAY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Titus Tinsley. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I finally saw an adorable kid there!\u00a0 Hurdler Nia Ali\u2019s son, Titus Tinsley.\u00a0 (But doesn\u2019t that name sound like a marionette?)<\/p>\n I love upbeat Cindy Ofili, who\u2019s really an American, but runs for Great Britain.<\/p>\n The story of Field medalist Will Claye proposing to his girlfriend, Queen Harrison, in the stands after his silver medal win, was adorbs.<\/p>\n Matthew Centrowitz, who runs the 1500m for America, [and won up wining it!,] speaks so well.\u00a0 I expect to hear him as a commentator down the line.<\/p>\n Champion Matthew Centrowitz. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n How do so many of them run, dive, play volleyball, etc, with those necklaces flying?\u00a0 Even more head-scathing is how Beach Volleyball peeps can play with rings<\/em>.\u00a0 Kerri Walsh plays with multiple ones!\u00a0 I don\u2019t understand!\u00a0 I can\u2019t even have sex<\/em> with jewelry on!<\/p>\n Finally, someone ran a heat with long hair (or wig) just down and flowing! It was Hurdler gold medalist, Dalilah Muhammad.<\/p>\n Hurdling gold medalist Kerron Clement was adorable at the end of his post-semi-final interview, when he looked in the camera with that beautiful smile, and winked.<\/p>\n Aly Reisman is so annoying.\u00a0 Everything she says on the floor is for the camera.\u00a0 And she does not stop bossing Simone Biles around.\u00a0 And she ruined the interview with Bob Costas, not only for Simone, but for Bob, (and for the viewers, too,) by trying to take it over, and not let Simone talk about the compettiion she had just won.<\/p>\n Kerri Walsh and April Ross were so cold to the Aussies at the net, after yet another of their wins.<\/p>\n I hate to admit it, but I was semi-happy that Kerri and April lost their semi-final match, which meant they could not vie for the gold. And Kerri is far from as good a loser as she is a winner.\u00a0 She literally turned even whiter than she already is!<\/p>\n I love the story of the Argentinean sailing champ, (and lung cancer survivor,) Santiago Longa and his sons, who also raced in these Olympics.<\/p>\n Triple Jump champion, Christian Taylor, is another guy with great speech and voice.\u00a0 I hope to hear his dulcet tones commentating when he\u2019s done jumping.<\/p>\n WEDNESDAY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Former decathlete silver medalist, Trey Hardee, does a great job of commentating.\u00a0 He\u2019s my new favorite one.<\/p>\n How adorable is American decathlete Jeremy Taiwo, with his little salutes to Harry Potter<\/em>???<\/p>\n My \u201cUnbelievable Award\u201d goes to Abbey D\u2019Agostina, who finished her 5000m heat, after suffering a torn ACL in a collision during that race!!!\u00a0 So sad that she can\u2019t move on to the final, though.\u00a0 The story of how she and Nikki Hamblin, the Kiwi she collided with, helped each other up and egged each other on to finish the race, is so wonderful. And, obviously not just to me\u2014the duo was awarded the\u00a0prestigious, and very rare, (it has been awarded only seventeen times<\/em> in Olympic history!,) Pierre de Coubertin medal for their great sportsmanship.<\/p>\n Justine Fedronic from France is another pretty girl.<\/p>\n The runner on the right is not Caster Semenya, but doesn’t this also look like a race featuring both genders? Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I can\u2019t believe they\u2019re still talking about Caster Sememya\u2019s gender all these years later! They should have sorted it all out by now. \u00a0And I\u2019ve even seen a few other female athletes who look even more<\/em> like males than she<\/em> does!\u00a0 So how have they done away with gender testing?!\u00a0 That\u2019s a big mistake, especially these days, when it\u2019s needed perhaps more than ever.\u00a0 (At least she sometimes wears a bit of make-up, although she really needs to do away with her mustache if she wants to be taken seriously as a female.)<\/p>\n American runner Mary Grace just may be the most uncharming person in track and field.\u00a0 What a lummox.<\/p>\n Finally a guy with good teeth!\u00a0 It\u2019s Steeplechase silver medalist, American Evan Jager.\u00a0 (But later, he said winning an Olympic medal was\u00a0 a \u201clifelong dream\u201d of his, and then he added that he thought about it \u201cevery day for the past two years<\/em>!\u201d\u00a0 Whaaat???)<\/p>\n I did not think I could love Christian Taylor more, but then he expressed his love for his grandma, and for…cleaning!\u00a0 What a man!\u00a0 (It was good that they finally interviewed him alone, rather than with his charming teammate, and silver medalist behind Christian, Will Claye, who just got engaged to a famous girl runner, which took away from Christian.)<\/p>\n How rude of NBC\u2019s Mike Tirico to be snide about Badminton!\u00a0 I have news for him\u2014even though I\u2019m<\/em> not into it, it\u2019s the second most popular sport in the world<\/em>!<\/p>\n How do the single canoes not curve paths when the athletes paddle on just one side?<\/p>\n THURSDAY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Megan Rapinoe is cute and well-spoken, and honest.<\/p>\n I believe in God as much as the next guy, but I really don\u2019t like when the winners invoke Jesus.\u00a0 Go ahead and thank God, because he (or she) probably did help.\u00a0 (But, really, haven\u2019t you ever wondered why would he answer your<\/em> prayers, and not those of the other<\/em> guys?)\u00a0 But these Jesus and savior statements are just repelling.<\/p>\n I know, I know\u2014the trio of female American hurdler medalists did not put their hands over their hearts.\u00a0 Someone should have told them to.<\/p>\n The World’s Best Athlete, Ashton Eaton, totally spent after the two-day event. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n Love Ashton Eaton! How could anyone not<\/em>? His repeat as Decathlon Champion, (which makes him the best athlete in the world for at least five years straight!,) is an incredible achievement! (And I\u2019m glad his Canadian wife, Brianne, won the bronze in the Heptathlon, as well. They\u2019re going to have some gnarly-strong kids!!!)<\/p>\n I really was thrilled for the Brazilian Beach Volleyball men to have won the gold, but it\u2019s sort-of shameful that they didn\u2019t even go over to shake hands with their opponents.\u00a0 They didn\u2019t even acknowledge each other<\/em>!!!\u00a0 Alison ran over to his family and friends. (They did do it all later<\/em>, but I just wish they had done it first<\/em>. But the pressure on them to win in front of their home crowd, which the women<\/em> could not do, was overwhelming, so they get to slide a bit on this one.)<\/p>\n FRIDAY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n The team of alison and Bruno, during their emotional national anthem. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n The most choked-up I\u2019ve been at this Olympics was during the very emotional rousing National Anthem of Brazil during the medal ceremony for Men\u2019s Beach Volleyball.\u00a0 That gold medal for their country appeared to mean so much them than we spoiled Americans can ever imagine.<\/p>\n Wrestler Jordan Burroughs seems so good and stable.\u00a0 And his tiny son is one of the most gorgeous children I\u2019ve ever seen!<\/p>\n Jordan Burroughs’ son. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I\u2019m sure you guys are marveling at that I watched the race-walking contest, but there\u2019s really so much to discuss about it!\u00a0 Like, that it was totally rude of NBCSN to do a close-up of the leader pooping his pants!!!\u00a0 And, just when I was feeling sorry for the dude, he takes a pooped-on sponge out of his butt, and throws it to the side of the road, right near unsuspecting spectators!\u00a0 Ugh.\u00a0 And lastly, that I was trying to eat breakfast during all of this!\u00a0 At least I didn\u2019t gain any weight that day because I stayed nauseated throughout.<\/p>\n But also, that guy collapsed a couple of times, stopped at least three times, but finished the race in eighth place!\u00a0 What\u00a0a supreme victory for him!\u00a0 (He had never finished it before!)<\/p>\n Kristi Castlin. Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n I absolutely love hurdler Kristi Castlin\u2019s beauty and style!\u00a0 While the other medalists (who are interviewed later that night or the next day,) always stick with their uniforms, Kristi wore a red USA tee-shirt dress and uber-fashionable white kicks to an interview!\u00a0 You go, girl!<\/p>\n I can’t believe that there was not just one hole-in-one during the reinstated Golf competitions, but four! (Two for men, two for women.)<\/p>\n I hate that two of my favorite Olympic sports, Synchronized Swimming and Rhythmic Gymnastics, are always put near the end of the two weeks, when my interest in the games is, understandably, flagging a bit.<\/p>\n I have so many questions for synchronized swimmers, divers, and swimmers!\u00a0 Like: don\u2019t their fingers get pruney, do they ever<\/em> get to rock good hair, doesn\u2019t the water adversely affect their skin, and how did they choose something so hard (with very little time to look good) to begin with?<\/p>\n I love that the oldest rider, fifty-four-year-old Nick Skelton, (and his horse Big Star, too, of course,) won the Show Jumping.<\/p>\n SATURDAY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n When the Women\u2019s Triathlon winner, America Gwen Jorgensen, said her husband does everything<\/em> for her, so she can train, and listed \u201cdishes, laundry, shopping,\u201d etc., I realized\u2014that\u2019s what Mr. X does for me for the Olympics, too\u2026so I can watch<\/em> them!<\/p>\n I felt so bad for Shakur Stevenson. But he did come away with the silver medal! Photo by Karen Salkin.<\/p><\/div>\n What a sad (not bad<\/em>) loser Shakur Stevenson was.\u00a0 He admitted he did not deserve to win, but started crying hysterically and, when asked if he could take any pride in winning the silver medal, he cried, \u201cNO!\u00a0 I don\u2019t like to lose.\u201d\u00a0 It\u2019s so weird to see a boxer, (which means he\u2019s macho, by definition,) turn into a big crybaby like that.\u00a0 (He is<\/em> just nineteen, though.)<\/p>\n It\u2019s shocking that so many of the athletes, men and woman both, look better on the field than they do in the studio, all cleaned-up!\u00a0 One would think that after they\u2019ve had the chance to shower and cool down and get dressed, and especially after the hair and make-up people get a hold of them, they\u2019d look great, but that has rarely been the case!\u00a0 The only one who has looked great both on and off the field is Kristi Castlin.\u00a0 If that girl is not already a model, she\u2019s going to be one now! (And she\u2019s also the only one who posed well before<\/em> her race final!)<\/p>\n The most choked-up I\u2019ve been this entire Olympics was over Brazil\u2019s soccer gold medal.
