In the middle of my Olympics-watching, I took a break to attend a really hip, different kind of fete. It was at the giant and interesting West Hollywood retail store, American Rag. That place has been around for so long that, (and I hate to admit this,) I had just sort-of taken it for granted. But once inside, I wanted every single item in there! It was all so varied and fabulous! And what a fun place for a party. (Except for the several creepy guests I noticed who were so rude to touch the garments for sale with food debris on their fingers! Ugh. How can grown-ups not know better than that?!)<\/p>\n

The occasion of this soiree was to celebrate the release of the book America’s Simple Solutions<\/em>, written by American Rag\u2019s CEO, Mark Werts,\u00a0 (With my busy schedule, I haven\u2019t had time to check it out yet, but, from a quick perusal, it does not<\/em> look to be about clothing, nor selling retail. Too bad because I liked his sartorial style that night.) I was introduced to him early in the evening, and then a bit later on, he made a little welcome speech, and then we all got back to party-ing.<\/p>\n

My friend Alice was happy to see that the makeshift bar was featuring her favorite drink, Moscow Mules. And they kept the passed tasty tidbits, like little shredded chicken sandwiches and skinny fries, coming all night. They were provided by Cafe Midi, an eatery we enjoyed discovering\u2026in the back of the adjacent furniture store! That was a lot of fun.<\/p>\n

The best part of the night, though, (yes-even better than finding perfect shoes for Mr. X,) was the DJ! Minh Pham played perfect old school grooves all night, which reminded me of my not-too-long-ago club days. In a good way. If they had dimmed the lights that night, I could have made believe I was back at The Gate, (the first dance club I was the promoter for.)<\/p>\n

To top it all off, we each left with a goodie bag containing a cute tee shirt, (which were all different,) and, of course, a signed copy (which reads, \u201cLet personal freedom reign forever\u201d) of Mark\u2019s book, which is the reason we were there to begin with!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
