{"id":19277,"date":"2015-07-15T05:14:02","date_gmt":"2015-07-15T05:14:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/?p=19277"},"modified":"2015-07-15T05:14:02","modified_gmt":"2015-07-15T05:14:02","slug":"tennissports-wimbledon-2015-unhappy-wrap-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/tennissports-wimbledon-2015-unhappy-wrap-up\/","title":{"rendered":"TENNIS\/SPORTS: WIMBLEDON 2015 UNHAPPY WRAP-UP"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>WIMBLEDON 2015 UNHAPPY WRAP-UP<\/h1>\n<p>I had to take a few days off from writing about this tennis tourney because I was pretty depressed about Roger Federer not winning the Championship.\u00a0 Actually, <em>neither<\/em> final went my way.\u00a0 But, being an Empath, it&#8217;s hard for me to get over what happened to Roger.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19282\" style=\"width: 234px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/tumblr_nrbu5vPYvy1uwkl7fo1_500.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19282\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-19282\" src=\"http:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/tumblr_nrbu5vPYvy1uwkl7fo1_500-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"These pix are all me, watching the Men's Final.\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/tumblr_nrbu5vPYvy1uwkl7fo1_500-224x300.jpg 224w, https:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/tumblr_nrbu5vPYvy1uwkl7fo1_500.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-19282\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">These pix are all me, watching the Men&#8217;s Final.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>So, this column will be short, but far from sweet.\u00a0 (If you&#8217;d like to read all the colorful stories that led up to this point in this year&#8217;s Wimbledon, here are my two previous columns telling all the deets of the fortnight, in order:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/%20itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/tennissporst-wimbledon-2015-first-week-updates\"> itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/tennissporst-wimbledon-2015-first-week-updates<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/tennissports-wimbledon-2015-week-two-updates\">itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/tennissports-wimbledon-2015-week-two-updates<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Luckily for me, I was in San Francisco for both week-end finals, so, watching them in spurts on my iPad sort-of softened the blows.\u00a0 The action wasn&#8217;t gigantic and in my face, as it is on my big screen at home, sitting glued to it.\u00a0 I was able to focus instead on my <em>own<\/em> life action, which was that of being an apt tourist.<\/p>\n<p>First, I have to admit that although I can&#8217;t stand anything about Serena Williams, the most ungracious athlete ever, her accomplishments are pretty amazing.\u00a0 I do have to laud her for that.\u00a0 <em>I&#8217;m<\/em> always so insecure, (even when I was the &#8220;it&#8221; girl, being the toast of the town due to the success of my former television show.)\u00a0 I&#8217;ve rarely thought that I&#8217;m the best at anything.\u00a0 So, that Serena has been able to keep that mind-set about herself, believing that no one can beat her, is pretty incredible.\u00a0 That mental toughness is to be applauded, no matter how obnoxious she is.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of the Ladies Final, I&#8217;m not <em>sad<\/em> for anyone, just disgusted about the victor.<\/p>\n<p>But, in the case of the <em>Men&#8217;s<\/em> Final, I seriously cannot discuss it even here.\u00a0 My fingers just won&#8217;t type all my sad thoughts.\u00a0 I have a feeling <em>Roger<\/em> will be over his loss sooner than <em>I<\/em> will.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/tumblr_nr0r5vbRvC1ro0ipwo1_500.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-19281\" src=\"http:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/tumblr_nr0r5vbRvC1ro0ipwo1_500-270x300.jpg\" alt=\"tumblr_nr0r5vbRvC1ro0ipwo1_500\" width=\"270\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/tumblr_nr0r5vbRvC1ro0ipwo1_500-270x300.jpg 270w, https:\/\/itsnotaboutme.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/tumblr_nr0r5vbRvC1ro0ipwo1_500.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 270px) 100vw, 270px\" \/><\/a>After he played the whole tournament the most beautifully that I, (and all the commentators, too) have ever seen any tennis player in history perform, to lose like he did was crushing.\u00a0 Yes, he did win a set, but I&#8217;ve never seen him make so many errors.\u00a0 His serve had been broken only one time in his previous six Wimbledon matches this year, and he had lost only one set, and that was in a tiebreaker.\u00a0 He had beaten the pants off Andy Murray in the stunning semi-final. \u00a0 And Andy had been one of the two favorites to wind-up the Champion! \u00a0 It seemed in the final that Roger just gave up and stopped giving it his all.\u00a0 Perhaps the earlier rounds had just been too easy for him.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, his opponent, Novak Djokovic, had almost lost in the quarterfinals a few days earlier.\u00a0 (I keep lamenting the fact that he didn&#8217;t.)<\/p>\n<p>Suffice it to say, I&#8217;m sick that the final went the wrong way.<\/p>\n<p>As I was watching it, I realized that I may have to cut myself off from watching sports for a little bit. The losses are too painful. In the tennis category, I have till the US Open begins in late August to decide what to do about it. I really don&#8217;t know which way I&#8217;ll go on it.
