RIO OLYMPICS<\/h1>\n

The two important things you must know before reading this article are:<\/p>\n

1) I doubt that there\u2019s another human on earth who has watched more hours of Olympics coverage over her lifetime, and<\/p>\n

2) I\u2019m not particularly political, except for absolutely detesting anyone who\u2019s stupid enough, in this day and age especially, to mis-pronounce \u201cnucLEar.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, knowing that, I am absolutely THRILLED that Rio won the 2016 summer Olympics, even over a United States city.<\/p>\n

I really believe in fairness, and it\u2019s high time that South America gets to host their FIRST Olympics! From the beginning of the modern Olympics in 1896, North America has had it 12 times, Europe 27(!), Asia 5, and even Australia twice. I was really rooting for Brazil, and not just because they have probably the only men on earth who still think I’m underweight.<\/p>\n

Also, I\u2019ve spent time in Chicago, in two different decades of my life, and let me tell you–not a pretty city. And I would actually be a little scared to spend time there now.<\/p>\n

All that being said, Obama wasn\u2019t going to win whether or not he showed up in Denmark to make a plea on behalf of his adopted city. Now, the creepy Obama-haters, who should have something better to do with their time, get to point fingers at him and say, \u201cHa! You lose! They didn\u2019t pick you.\u201d<\/p>\n

But, had he not<\/em> gone to try to help with Chicago\u2019s Olympics bid, the same cry-babies would have said that he didn\u2019t care about that city anymore. No Americans can win with the repugnant attitude of his detractors.<\/p>\n

Hey, nay-sayers: how about instead of gloating over the loss of yet another USA Olympics, you all spend that energy on volunteerism? Then just maybe you wouldn\u2019t come off as the sad, pathetic clowns you appear to be now.<\/p>\n

At this point, though, we should all move on to anticipating the beautiful, happy, colorful show Brazil can put on in 2016, and I, \u201cMiss Olympics-Watcher Of All Time,\u201d will be rooting them on the whole way. Go Rio!!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
