<\/a><\/p>\nThough media personality Karen Salkin began her show business career by running away and joining the circus, she\u2019s best known as the award-winning hostess of the long-running television show,\u00a0Karen\u2019s Restaurant Revue<\/em>, (more familiarly known as\u00a0KRR<\/em>.) The series has often been referred to as \u201cthe original reality show.\u201d<\/p>\n Although\u00a0KRR<\/em>\u00a0was often less about food<\/em> and more about her show biz adventures, childhood in Brooklyn, ongoing exploits, and life in general, Karen became known as one of the most popular and hip Los Angeles restaurant critics. Her weekly column for\u00a0BeverlyHillsPeople.com<\/em>, entitled\u00a0Out To Lunch<\/em>, was the most widely-read feature on that site. She then took that popular column to both the\u00a0Culver City News\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Blue Pacific News<\/em>\u00a0for two years, as the restaurant critic for those print publications. Her latest auxiliary gig was as the West Coast Correspondent for\u00a0Millennium Magazine<\/em>, which is both in print and on-line.<\/p>\n Just a year or two into her iconic cable television series, Karen became one of the few recipients of Los Angeles\u2019 inaugural\u00a0Marvy Award, which was given to celebrities who were deemed \u201cmarvelous\u201d in their fields, alongside the likes of former Olympic Pole Vault Champion, and current International City Racing CEO, Bob Seagren.<\/p>\n In addition to her show business and journalism careers, Karen has been a model, dancer, hip-hop club promoter, and elementary school teacher.
