First period English 8AM with Mrs Salkin left me with wonderful memories. She would dim the lights for us and when questioned by the head of the English department about all her students receiving A’s she replied that they were all very bright and special ! When the janitors went out on strike it was Mrs Salkin out there the next morning with them holding a sign . What I remember best was the stories she would tell us daily about her family and how wonderful they were. They say there is one teacher you will always remember …. Would like to take this opportunity to say, thank you Mrs Salkin.

I had the privilege of knowing Mrs. Salkin for the majoriity of my life. My favorite memories were when Karen and I would have a Ladies Lunch with our always gabby moms. I know they are both continuing the fun, as they are together again in heaven. They are both in the section reserved for the Best Moms That Ever Existed.

Since I never had the pleasure of meeting your Mother, I was most anxious to read your tribute to her. I must admit, it made me realize what I missed by not meeting her in person. But it truly gave me a feeling of knowing her (at least a little)

Dear Karen – I had the pleasure of meeting May Rose during one of her Summers in Aspen. I, too, am a transplanted Brooklynite, having lived in the Roaring Fork Valley for more than 30 years. I adored her little poems published in the local papers. I met your mom at the Thrift Shop, where else. She will be missed.

Dear Karen: All though we only met for a brief time. I am so sorry for your loss. I did have the pleasure of spending more time with you then your mom. After reading about her, I can see that she is not gone, her creativity, kindness, and humor lives through you. Thank you for sharing her with me, all though it was brief.

Dear Karen,
Your description of your mother flies off the page. It’s as if she were sitting here in this very room. What a beautiful, loving and talented woman she was!
I too am in the ‘club’ (see Ken’s note) — along with some very wonderful people. As my cousin said after my mother died (in 1995), now that we’re orphans, we should find someone to adopt us. Well, maybe we can all adopt each other.
Your devotion to your mother was wonderful. Most people spend time with their parents out of duty; you did it out of love.
